Can someone please tell me, if I need parents name for a child born in 1827 do I need to go to a records office or find the parish registar? Also the district in which they died in would that hold all the persons info?
Thank you

Each piece of information is held individually, - there's no central holding for all the information for a person.

Parish registers should help with parents of a child born in 1827. Did that child marry?
If so buy a copy of the marriage cert. to find the father's name, ...find the family in a census to locate birthplaces then look on IGI on the familysearch site to see if there is a transcribed record of baptism.
Check in actual or filmed records if possible.

The death district would only hold the details of the death or burial.

You could look for the birth online on the IGI on www.familysearch.org or you could visit the county records office for the area.

What you need at the Record Office is..........

The name of the Town/Village.
If it is a large town you may have to search several parishes.
The baptism will be held in date order in church records.
The death should be in the parish register but you will have to get the death cert from the Registry Office in the place where they died.

Hope this will help.

Malcolm.

Hi Lallie
I have a Thomas Quennell born 1796 in Midhurst, who became a blacksmith and married Sarah Mould at Midhurst in 1817. His parents were Richard Quennell and Ann Glover, who married at Midhurst in 1791. Richard was possibly the Richard born at Heyshott in 1769, son of Richard Quinnell and Mary Worthington. Richard senior may well have been the son of Richard Quinnell and Martha Kingston (married 1744), and this Richard may have been the son of John Quinhil and Aedith / Edda Wilkinson of Stoughton.

Hope that helps!

PS We're still blacksmiths!
