I have found on freebmd a possible six marriages for my rellie, is there anyway of checking these without buying every marriage cert.

What year are we looking at as you may be able to look at censuses around the time and see if that gives you a clue.

I use Ancestry and www.familyrelatives.org. You can put a surname in and mother's maiden name between 1911 and 1920. As I say this relies on the fact that the bride had not already married and that all the children weren't born prior to 1911. Do you see any names that may run in the family? Do you want the other results?

The areas the entire Arnold family have been in so far are Shoreditch, Whitechapel, Bethnal Green, Bishopsgate.Middx.

None of those names fall in with the common names of the family. John is the most prominent one.
