Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could suggest where to find a passenger list for a ship in which arrived at Port Phillip Victoria Australia in Nov 1840 The ship's name was "Melbourne".
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Regards,
Lyn.

Hi Lyn,

Can I ask where you got your information from? I must be going blind, as I cannot find a ship "Melbourne" 1840

Could you give us a name to narrow search.

Bye Helen

Hi
I read somewhere once that all passengers in those days were listed to have arrived at Fremantle (Western Australia) This is because it was the first port of call. Some, but not all left the ship there but others remained and went round to other ports on the east coast to Victoria and New South Wales.
You might like to try http://www.naa.gov.au/ website. There is another excellent thread by Tony Oz which I will nudge up for you.
Hope this helps.
Cheers Gerry in a very warm Melbourne.

Hi Lyn.

You will find "assisted " immigrants to Port Phillip here: 1839 onwards.

and here.1839 onwards,

This site ( below ) will give you a list of some of the Vessels and the years that they arrived in Australian ports.
