I'm just wandering if anyone out there can help me in my quest to find my brother who was given up for adoption in Australia in 1969? any help would be greatly appreciated.

You won't be allowed to access information regarding his adoption but in 2005 the laws regarding blood relatives tracing family given for adoption were changed .

Have a look at

for further information and advice.

The site outlines what you can and can't do and some of the ways that you can look into tracing a relative. There are other sites available but they will tell you broadly the same as the one i posted.

The nature of adoption and the limited access to documentation means you wold have to consider using the help of an organisation which specialises in this field at some point.

There are cases where folks have managed without but it is a case of using all the sources available to increase your chances.

I understand that i still have a long way to go but for now i'm just trying to find as many details as i can. i have some but there's 38 years of lies and secrets to unravel first. i never planned on doing this alone i just wanted to get a head start. the site gave me no success purely because the laws differ so much from one country to another. but i do appreciate your help.
