Tracing relationships on GR trees

I had a hot match with my great great great grandfather's sister. Sent a message, received back that the tree was open to me, and would I open mine. I messaged again to say, what is the relationship? The reply is, I can't tell you, my tree is too big.

I have looked at the details of my relative but can't match it with any names in the other person's tree or see any connection, though my gggfathers' sister's tree runs up to the present day.

Is there an easy way of tracing a relationship? I am not sure if I want to open my tree (though there is little information on it)_if the relationship is terribly obscure.

The hole point of having a family tree is so you can see where your roots are and the relationship between your rellies if the tree is to big to tell who is who then what is the point?

I have in the past had difficulty finding our common ancestor on other trees, but I found yesterday if you type the name of the ancestor into the search box of the other persons tree it then brings up a box with the name and y.o.b of the ancestor. Click on that, and it gives the part of the tree with the ancestor and you can trace down from that. I dont know if that is any help? It certainly was for me.

Of course there is some facility to view the whole tree, I think, but it means (for me) installing something or other and I am not too sure about that.
