I have recently come across 2 records of deaths on the igi with the letters D.W.P. as a prefix to the date - does this mean Death Without Parish or what does it mean - any help appreciated - Janet

Never heard of that before, but I would have thought "Death/Died Within Parish" would be more likely........btw I have never found a death entry on the IGI, what area is that.?

Nicky - strictly speaking it was not on the IGI but through a link on to a pedigree - one of those little goldmines you rarely find. I wonder if it has anything to do with prison or whether its something the submitter made up themselves? Janet

Janet,
I1d be vary wary of those "pedigree" links if I were you, found some for one of mine once ,with very conflicting information, afterall its all submitted, so your relying on someone elses research being accurate.
