Hi,

I have been searching without luck for a death of

Sophia Ayres/Ayers/Ayris around 1825.

Husbend's name Henry who later married Mary Bennett in West Henney.

Also I cannot trace the Marriage of Henry & Sophia.

Henry was born 1785 in South Leigh Oxfordshire/Berkshire

Henry & Sophia lived in Garford Berkshire.

I wonderd if they lived in sin?

Thank's

Priscilla

Hi Priscilla
I think one of the difficulties is the surname and variants.
On the IGI on familysearch.you can search just with forenames.......I had a look but they are not in Oxon or berks.
Looked for the death in familyhistory online ...but not there.

Better luck with someone else!
Cheers

Where have you searched?

Have you checked the actual Parish registers for the area?

Hi All,
I have checked the All of the
Witney Registration District pr's
The igi
lots of sites for oxfordshire & berkshire.

With no luck!

I do know that Sophia's Husband Henry
Married again 1826.

If you can't find the original marriage...perhaps there wasn't one, in which case he could 're-marry' without Sophia having died...........

Hi Reg,

I agree with You Reg They may have lived in sin.

would the Children of Henry & Sophia bean able to be Christend if there parents were not Marriad ?.

The Reason I ask is because i do have the Christening entry's all for the Children.

Hi Priscilla ...

Having seen your message, I checked the OFHS's Oxfordshire Marriage Index (1538-1837) for any sign of Henry and Sophia's marriage.

Despite checking the surnames AIR(E)(S), AYER(S), AYR(E)(S) and AYRIS(S), I'm afraid there was no sign of them.

Hi Penny,

Thank you for trying.
do you know if every church is in the index?
Im going to Oxford to do some research and wonder if it is worth looking there or would i just be covering the same ground.
