Google "Blue Coat School, Oldham" and you will find information on its history in Wikipedia.

It was changed from a boarding school in the 1950's.

I don't think it had any connection with Henshaw's Society for the Blind if that is what is making you think that your relative was blind.

Any info on this school for the 1900's would be useful.
Found a relative aged 10 at this school on the 1901 census but it doesn't state that he is Blind or visually impaired. I have Googled for info but not a lot of help.Wondering if the school was just for the Blind.
