Hi Margaret, could there be a mistake on the birth date of David, father Matthew wasnt born till 1879, so son couldnt have been born same year.

Thanks for taking the time to help me Margaret, it really is appreciated.

This is the David Lamont that I found on the 1911 census. He was killed in WW1. Funny though that his parents were Matthew & Mary and we know from the 1911 census that he was born in Scotland. I'm looking for his attestation papers to see where he was born in Scotland but there's problems with that site today.

In memory of
Private
DAVID LAMONT
who died on June 2, 1919

Military Service:
Service Number: 1037212
Age: 43
Force: Army
Unit: Canadian Forestry Corps
Additional Information:
Date of Birth: February 1, 1879
Son of Matthew and Mary Lamont; husband of Mary Lamont, Vancouver.

Sorry, Sandra, I'm confusing the issue. You're correct. Mathew Johnstone Lamont died 1944, aged 65, Comox, British Columbia.

Sandra, I believe that the death of Matthew Lamonte in British Columbia was the son, Matthew. He died 1986 age 83 making him born 1903.

There's a family on the Canadian 1911 census that could be them except for the fact that the father's name is David not Matthew. What do you think?
They're in Calgary, Alberta. All born in Scotland and emigrated 1910.

Lamont David M Head M Feb 1879 32
Lamont Mary F Wife M Dec 1880 31
Lamont Matthew M Son S Apr 1903 8
Lamont Gordon M Son S Nov 1905 6
Lamont George M Son S Apr 1906 5
