On Line Census - Advice Please

Please could anyone tell me if the discs which you can buy with the censuses on from various areas are the same as you can view on line.

Just wondered if it would be worth buying any and if I would gain anything from it. I always thought they were exactly the same if the on line ones were complete.

Thanks for any advice.

Hi Marilyn

Not sure its worth buying the CD;s anymore, now that all are available on Ancestory. You certainly wouldnt get any more info and they dont usually have a search facility.

Thanks for that Jacqui

I am registered with Ancestry and also The Geneologist where I can view all the censuses, just wondered if the bought ones had anymore info or easier to search.

Thanks a lot for the advice, will stick to on line searches now.

I have the 1881 British census cd's but never use them because they're just transcriptions and I would rather use the ones on Ancestry so that I can view the originals.
