Delay due to eating ...
Go to the 1841 England Census search page. Scroll down past all the description. In the list after "Please choose a county:" click on "Middlesex".

You get a list of civil parishes; click on "St George Bloomsbury" (it's the only one that mentions Bloomsbury)

You get a list headed "Please choose an enumeration district in St George Bloomsbury:". The link with "District x" takes you to the first image in that district. The link "View description ..." takes you to an image of the (guess what).

Now helped with a good streetmap (I use a 1967 London A1) you have to read the descriptions working out where they are talking about. This is heavy going until you get some experience. Local knowledge helps a lot.

When one looks hopeful, go back and view the images.

Luckily I found the middle bit of Gt Russell St in District 4.

Hmmm;
The bit of Gt Russell St that you want is in Middlesex - St George Bloomsbury - District 4. Find this by reading the descriptions of the Enumerator's Districts.
#60 is on HO107/672/4 folio 7 page 8 (or image 4 if you browse the district).

Dissappointingly; at #60 is Alexander Stephen, an Ironmonger from Scotland, with two daurs and a servant Elizabeth Lloyd.

So it's back to the drawing board.

Anthena has emailed me to say that she has found the pages that related to Great Russell Street and for some reason the numbering begins at No. 100! Directly before No. 100 is 28 Russell Street. So there is obviously a huge chunk of households that were left out.
So a fruitless search for all I'm afraid.

And yes this is the family on the 1851 census. The house maid is Harriet Woolley who goes on to marry the son Charles!

I know they were living at this address in Bloomsbury as there are letters at this time giving this address.

I have tried an address search on Findmypast, but unfortunately Great Russell Street is not coming up.....in fact a search for Bloomsbury is not showing either for some reason.

Could I just ask how it is you know where the family were living in 1841? What document have you found it on?

At first I thought maybe you had a birth cert for a child stating that address, but then that would have given the mother's name, which you don't have.

I just want to make sure we are searching the right location for 1841.

I know where this family should be in 1841 but cannot find them by entering their names, is it possible to enter an address.

living at 60 Great Russell Street, Bloomsbury, London (may come under Middlesex)
