I suspect I'm chasing my tail but....

could anybody offer suggestions on how to find the daughter of Leonard Doric Burt Moody (he was born 11/01/1934). I dont know the mothers name or the daughters name. He wasnt married to the mother. Child must've been born 1953-1968 in Southampton Hampshire area.

Unless the father attended when the birth was registered, the birth cert will not have his name on it...........and the child will almost certainly have the mother's surname.

The only way I can see is if he paid maintainance via a court.

This man may still be alive......perhaps it would be tactful to remove his details from your posting................

Thanks, Jim...solves that one......!!

What evidence have you, Julie, to support the theory that this man fathered a daughter?

Please be careful about how much info you post in your response........to protect the privacy of individuals concerned............

It's a known fact within the family that she exists. Her step brother would like to trace her.

I just did a search on site and, other than the one that is probably the one on your own tree, I see one Leonard Moody born 1933 (could be approximate) with an unknown birthplace and another born 1940 in Old Portsmouth.
If I were you I'd contact both of those tree owners on the off chance that any child of his might not know his exact place of birth and might already be a member on this site.

Many thanks Sue, I will give it a go. I'm still learning :)

Hi Julie,
It looks very much like the death details Jim has put up is the Leonard you are seeking.
A death certificate may well give you his last known address and possible name of a family member if they registered the death.
Bye
