May i ask how you did it so quick?

Most common reason is that Jeremiah was illegitimate or adopted and hadn't quite decided what to call himself.

However, it's not unheard of for surname aliases to be handed down for generations.

It lools to me as if Jeremiah's surname was Martin and Ann's was Green.

She probably used the name Martin as if they were married, but was actually called Green.

Would any one like to hazard a guess at what this means??

Charles Green born 1790, parents Jeremiah and Ann Green.

James Martin "alias" Green born 1793. Parents Jeremiah and Ann Martin "alias" Green.

Jeremiah Green born 1795, parents Jeremiah and Ann Green.

Ann Green "alias" Martin born 1797, parents Jerom and Ann Green "alias" Martin.

John Green born 1800, parents Jeremiah and Ann Green.

I am only concerned about the "Alias" ones.

Any ideas out there??

Thanks in advance :-)
