Where did he come from.

Can some one help me. I am trying to find out were a Francis Woodward born 1880 a merchant seaman who married in Blyth northumberland to Mary jane bellerby. I have his death cert saying he died age 29 . He drowned trying to board a ship called the ss white s-oan i think? on the 15 of feb 1909 on the river blyth.
Maybe i might find some thing in a local paper?.

Just a thought does his death cert confirm R. Blyth in Northumberland as there is also one in Suffolk

His farther was a John jospth Woodward a general labour .deceased in 1901.
