Hi all

I have finally managed to knock down a bit of my brick wall today and received my great grandfather and mother's marriage cert. Only problem is I cant read the regiment that is written down in the occupation section and wondered if some kind person might be able to decipher it for me if I emailed them a copy of the cert.

It looks like Private 4' lungens R. W Lungs, but I am probably wrong. The marriage took place in Tonbridge and the groom was living in Tunbridge Wells in 1918.

Any help grately appreciated.

Regards
Tracie.

Private 4th Queens R.W. Surreys - I think.

Yes, I agree with Joy. Private, 4th Queen's R.W. Surrey. The R.W. stands for Royal West (according to a Google search).

Have a look at this webpage which gives some information about the regiment:-
