Thanks Ellie and Sheila. Thought it was a name but also wondered if it was shortened for something else.

Hi Barbara

As far as I am aware Martha has always been a name in its own right. It is a biblical name and Martha was the sister of Lazarus and Mary of Bethany in the New Testament.
