1st marriage of William b. 1836, Kirby Knowle.

William Prest to Elizabeth Grainger in kirby knowle york 1863

2nd marriage William Prest to Esther Allison in Kirby Knowle 1874

I have these 2 certs, but I now think i have got the wrong William

Can anyone please find a marriage of William Prest b.1844 Ripon, and an Esther b.1844 in Carlton.

First child Mary Ann born 1872 in Durham, I have William on the 1861 census a servant in Ripon, cant find him on the 1871, on 1881 and 1891 he is in Durham with Esther.

The William Prest in Kirby Knowle is a different person, although his second wife is Esther and born also in Carlton, they are10 year older than the ones Im looking for, at one time I thought they might be the same, but 1881 census shows both in completly different places.

I have checked BMD, but maybe ive missed something, I have tried to make this as clear as I can, sorry if its complicated, ive given myself a headache just writing it, it must be even worse for someone reading it.

Thanks for listening.

Hi Lynne, thanks for looking, but thats the cert I have and William is 39 yrs old, hes too old, mine was born in 1844 so would be only 30 yrs, its just such a coincedence that both wives where born in Carlton, but they are definitly 2 different couples according to the 1881 census, its driving me mad.

Thanks again Lynne and Heather.
