Hi Pauline,

I bought a hand held microfiche reader off e-bay. I find it great to use and it takes up no space of course - however, because the window where you read the image is quite small it is not very good for reading loads of pages. If you just want to look up the odd record here or there is it fine, but I wouldn't want to spend lots of time on it. I also need to use my reading glasses with it, but that's just because I need them anyway for close work at my age.

I'm wondering whether to get one, but have no experience of using them.

Are they easy to use? I do have a desk top reader, but it's a bit past it's sell by date, and the slider keeps getting stuck, so instead of moving along slowly, it jerks, and I miss a couple of pages. OH has tried lubricating the rod, but it makes no difference.

Your thoughts appreciated.
