Hi,
I'm looking for any ideas on finding out about an old school class photo......family have no idea!
The Photo - i would assume must me between 1900-1920, it's of Glasson Dock Primary school which is near lancaster, Lancashire, the school is known as Thurnham Christ Church. Is there anyway of finding out about school class registers?...are these available to the public?.....Has anybody come across this in there family?
Hope somebody can point me in the right direction...as my curiousity with this picture won't let me put it back in the box!!
kind regards
angela

I would try the County Records Office first of all, they may have school records.

A local paper might be interested in printing the photo and could request help with names of the pupils.

Another suggestion - my local studies library has school yearbooks for some of the schools in my area, some going back to Victorian times. Depends on what survived over the years, but these are a mine of information. They had my Dad's school in 1920's. The level of information varies - but could be worth a try. Libraries usually have files of local history photographs, too. Again, depends on what survives & what they have been given - but you just might find same picture, but labelled. Or something similar which will help. There are many such in my nearest main library. Email the library authority concerned and ask.
If there isn't a local history library, it may be called a history centre or archive - but does the same job.
