Why not Edward Henry (Edwin) Skerrett if the 1861 birth cert confirms Edwin's parents

I've just checked another marriage certificate here.....

Edward and Catherine SKERRETT had a son Edward Henry b. 1890 ( have cert. )

I believe I have the correct marriage certificate for Edward ( junior) 21, marrying Janet MATTHEWS in 1911. His father is shown as Edward Henry SKERRETT.

Edward junior and Herbert both enrolled into Whitbourne school on the same day.

Who would you log as their father?...Which name?

K
I think I might do that.

Herbert and Elizabeth had a son shown as Robert in the census. I feel fairly sure that he was registered as Richard.

....I wish they would make their mind up.!

I suppose the only way forward is to buy the birth cert of Edwin Henry 1861 - maybe his parents changed their mind or the registrar misheard?

I wonder whether his father was christened Edwin and prefered the name Edward. The age and birth place ties in with the detials of Herbert's father in 1891 and 1901

this could be Herbert's birth - just down the road from me - Whitbourne would be the Reg District of Bromyard - but I don't know if he's yours - Having said that the census image is Skerrett and I can't see another Herbert Skerrett of the right age

I have the marriage certificate of Herbert Bowers SKERRETT who married Alice Emma NASH in Longdon, Worcester in October 1908.
He is shown as 22, a bachelor, labourer, son of Edwin Henry SKERRETT, labourer.

My problem is that I haven't found a Herbert Bowers SKERRETT prior to this ....
but I have got a Herbert, b. 1885 son of Edward Henry SKERRETT (1901 in Whitbourne as SHERRETT)

With an extra middle name and a different father's name....
Can I add Herbert Bowers to my tree?
