Hi Romany
Why don't you download the free edition of Legacy. You could then manipulate your family tree in your own time and post the amended tree back to GR.
Just a thought.

You can download PAF for free from the familysearch site, or buy FTM for under £10.

Thanks everyone, i do appreciate your replies. Paul, no I use Genes as my main tree, whenever I find anything new, it goes straight on this tree. I have gedcom'ed my tree to Ancestry and Tribal Pages too, though. But I havent got any software. I'd got my tree as polished as I could, then this happens. We live and learn!

Hello Romany,
Do you use other FH software such as Legacy or Family Tree Maker?
If you do can you make a backup of your original file, make two copies, prune each one and then merge them back into one file, or is there an easier way yet?

If you have family tree software correct on there then import your tree to GR. The other alternative is to contact GR who I'm told are able to do corrections (worth a try)

Well I am sorry but I don't know how to do it!

I can't even get my lot to go in their proper places never mind the ones that got a bit creative with their relationships!

I was advised to do my tree on family tree making programme and then upload it.

Best of British luck!

So if I do that they'll all be on the tree twice? Ive typed in her with her mum and unknown father, then had to type her husband, son, me, and my son (ie, her great grandson) again. But my father in laws wife has all her lot attached to her, hundreds of them. Oh Lord....Thanks for replying though.

I feel for you! Easy to do on your tree at home but maybe not on GR...you have to attatch Phyllis to a different Mum...or Dad...put in an extra generation

This will act as a nudge...hope someone with Knowhow is around
Cheers

on this. I have a complex tree, and received a birth cert this morning that shows that my sons great gran (Phyllis) was illegitimate - her 'mum' was actually her gran. So now I need to change it on the tree, but how, without taking off hundreds of ancestors and detailed descriptions about them/photos/sources of info etc. You see, Phyllis' son's wife ie, my sons grandmother, also has her tree on. But obviously shes connected to Phyllis' son. Oh, if only Phyllis' mum had been honest!
