................................................................................
Thanks to the wonderful people on here I broke down a longstanding brickwall .
I have developed this line and bought many certs to confirm links.

One thing I can not do but would love to do is find out what happened to Harry/Henry.

I have his birth cert.

Henry Miles
Year of Registration: 1873
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
District: Lambeth
County: Greater London, London, Surrey
Volume: 1d
Page: 390 (click to see others on page)

Note name on the cert. He is the twin of Charles Miles , my gt grandfather. My father always used to speak of them being orphans and ending up on the Thames River hospital/orphan ships.
I would dearly love to find out what happened to him.

I have Charles on board a sailing ship in 1891 loose him and his family in 1901, BUT cannot find any trace of Henry/Harry. I have even tried looking in various war records with no luck..

Can anyone help...Please .

NB: It is 20.48 in Perth Australia , so I will be going to bed soon. I know this is the quite time of day for GR , so will catch up tomorrow if there are no answers/suggestions before I sign off..

I see that the Harry Miles born in Lambeth according to the 1891 census was Henry the son of Thomas and Ellen on the 1881 census - just to confuse matters!

There is a Henry Charles Miles (born abt 1873) boarding with a cabman and his family(surname Warwick) in 1891 who states that he was born in London - but the image says London City. There are a few possibles in 1881 to link up to this H Miles.

In 1901, Thomas and Ellen's Henry is still with them, but there is another Henry born Lambeth:

Name: Henry Miles
Age: 27
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1874
Relation: Head
Spouse's Name: Ann
Gender: Male
Where born: Lambeth, Surrey, England

Civil Parish: St Helen Bishopsgate
Ecclesiastical parish: St Helen Bishopsgate
County/Island: London
Country: England

Street address:

Occupation:

Condition as to marriage:

However, there is a possibility that this is one of two that were shown as being born Southward on the 1881?

thankyou for your replies Michael and Ivy. I have often wondered if he was one of the many orphans that 'fell overboard' whilst learning his trade, but will hang onto the fact that he may have been at sea during the census. I was hoping to find some war records, but again if he was merchant navy , I may never get to know. I may have to wait until his family do their tree and find him that way.
