hI Paul, thanks for getting back to me. Ive done as you said and sent off the the Surrey family centre hoping they know about the buriels of the inmates of the asylum.

You soon get out of touch with things after a 12 month lay off, but im getting back into it slowly, very slowly.

REGARDS TO YOU ALSO AND HAVE A HAPPY XMAS AND A LOVELY 2010 ted.

This week Radio 4 programme "All in the Mind" visited what was Long Grove with a guide from The Surrey History Society

He used to work there and commented that it is now a "gated" community to keep people out whereas in his day it was "gated" to keep people in !!!

Paul Barton, Hi Paul, ive been away from the family tree thing now for over a year - ill health- but im feeling much better now and back on the trail again.
Ive only just seen your reply which you sent on the 27 Jan 2008 and for which I send my apologies for not replying sooner.

Do you know know if there are any graves left there? You say its a country park now, and I dont suppose there will be, although there might be a patch somewhere which they havnt grassed over or whatever they do with old cemetarys! I hope you are stil on the site and again apologies for taking
over a year to reply. TED.

The hospital closed in 1992 and has since been converted into Clarendon Park, a luxury apartments development. Much of its surrounding grounds now form part of Horton Country Park.

hi all, long time since ive been here, had a real break from the family tree business, now im back on the trail again.

My son in laws family FRANKS had a g/grandfather SGT WILLIAM
FRANKS of the RMIR (Royal Marine Infantry Regt) died in march 1911 after nearly 5 years in the Asylum, and im trying to find some records of the patients etc but the only records ive looked at seem
to suggest that the asylum closed in 1907, but thats not what it says on his death cert.

Can anyone help me please to either tell me where the records
might be kept, OR where I could find out about his records whilst
in the RMIR, which I thing was classed as a naval rgt, as they served on board most times.

Thanks very much for any help. TED.
