Hi all,

Does anyone know how this works please?

I seem to have found a web-page which lets me search on names and I have people mentioned in there but it doesn't link to a home page or anywhere else where I can read the biography.

Can anyone help?

I think its just a historical list of people in Stockport. Try the site below as the home page with an extract from the page below

I also came from Stockport and can recommend the website below for details of Srockport soldiers that died during the first World War

"This database is the first part of a long-term programme to provide a historical directory of people who once lived in Stockport. The information is compiled by Stockport Heritage Library, Central Library (part of the Stockport Council Library and Information Service).

The directory is intended for family historians and genealogists, local historians in search of figures from the past and anyone who wants to know who was who in Stockport. The occupation column of the database also yields a mass of social and economic information about social life and historical trades and industries. The directory will eventually include biographical entries from all eras in Stockport's history, and only individuals known to be alive will be excluded"
