Hi

I am at a dead end trying find a way to get Maria's maiden name can anyone come up with what i can do to get this information.

Maria married William Hardman they had numerous children from 1817 -1835 - so cant order a birth certificate they were all born in Bromsberrow, Gloucester. Maria died in 1857 aged 71 according to the 1851 census she was born in Overbury, Worcester her husband William Hardman was born in Bromsberrow. I cant find a marriage on the IGI for them in these areas and cant see a way forward to find out her maiden name. The Christening records for the children are transcribed on the internet but does not give her maiden name.

Any ideas in where to go next as I’m at a dead end now.

Thanks for your help

Karen

I've just been looking and there don't seem to be any online parish celrks for Worcestershire. I was hoping someone could do a lookup for you in Overbury.

If I were you I'd contact the local family history society http://www.ffhs.org.uk/

I'd ask if anyone has access to the parish records for Overbury and could either check for a marriage or look for any baptisms of a Maria around her birth year. That might give a clue.

I'd do the same for Gloucestershire in case they married there.

It might cost you a small fee for a lookup but would help perhaps.

I think you need ot search the actual parish registers......much more exists than is on the IGI...can you go to Gloucester Records office yourself or get someone to look?

Look also at Maria's villlage in Worcester.

I notice though that there is a marriage for William Hardman to a Sybil in 1814 in Maria's village Overbury....could it be....?????

You could try this site for Gloucestershire, someone has marriage records for Bromsberrow.
