If you go to wolverhampton.gov.uk/archives they have a postal service ive used it and found it very good they have old express &stars which they will search, there is a form to download and fill in,they do charge but it was well worth the money

Dear Aussietrish
Wolverhampton Archives were very helpful in finding a newspaper report of my husband's g grandfather who died in the Princes End canal!! (did he fall or was he pushed, we will never know!)
They also found a newspaper article whilst they were searching that could have been another relative.
He contacted them by email and they are always very helpful.

The local paper that covers Wolverhampton is The
Express & Star .


There is no facilityto view old editions online and the Express & Star does not run an archive library service.

Anyone looking to read an old edition of the newspaper should visit the archive library in Snow Hill, Wolverhampton, which holds all back issues of the Express & Star on microfilm.

These can be viewed and photocopied.

No I havent because I was under the impression that they only kept recent articles, and the older stuff was kept at the archives.

SORRY I am transcribing the Dorset 1861 census for free bmd at moment so will pop in during my breaks to see if anyone has answered.

hi , Is there any wonderful person living near the Wolverhampton's archives that could access some newspapers for me. I have tried accessing them on line to no avail and have found nothing I am looking for in other papers.
I am looking for information on my gt uncles death; and hoping maybe a photo of him or the family.

died

Leslie V Crossley Jul-Aug-Sep 1917 Age at Death: 13/14
District: Wolverhampton

He was killed whilst riding his bicycle at Newbridge on the Tettenhall Road in Wolverhampton.

I would imagine it would be in the local newspapers. I do not know if there would be any obituries.

I would be most grateful If there is any one out there with a few spare moments on their hands that could get a copy of the articles/obituries. I live in Australia and cannot get their myself.
