It has been glorious here today ,but have the builders in,so the patio has been covered with ladders and tools and been plying them with tea all day !
But yes when the weather is good I enjoy an evening on the patio with a cold glass of white wine , G and T is not my tipple.lol
I hope it is going to be good weather for the next few days for them to finish my roof.... I'll drink the wine inside.lol

Are you a night owl,...? I usually am... but am yawning my head off...looking after those men I expect !!!

I don't have a favourite flower but I do prefer any that have a strong scent. Except maybe stinking iris!

Don't you wish the the weather would be better so we could sit outside enjoying our gardens with a G&T in hand?

Haven't met up in person but been in contact with a second cousin who I met thro GR by putting my mother's 2nd unusual name, by which she was known as, same with dad!
Neither were known by their first names !
I am the babe of the family, and tho he lived in the same village for many years,he is almost 30 yrs older than me so no have really nothing in contact, except our grandparents being brother and sister, my grandfater died when I was 5
,My eldest first cousin and he moved to Coventry about the same time so I have put them in touch after many years.

If you like flowers what variety do you prefer?

Anne

Anne Report 4 Aug 2009 21:48

No but we have made contact with my husband's cousin in Canada who we now keep in touch with, he contacted us through G.R. and up until then we didn't know of his exsitence.

Have you met up with a distant relative who you didn't know and then found you had nothing in common ?

I've gone back to the last post that had a question. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wishes I kept in touch more with everyone and vice versa, but last month we had our Silver Wedding Anniversary and having moved to a new house in a new part of the country we decided to have a big celebration in the garden. We were VERY lucky with the weather on the day and we had about 80 friends and family here including a number of cousins we hadn't seen for years. One or two only remembered me as a child! And of course that meant they'd never met my now adult son and daughter. We also had OH's best man with us who we hadn't seen for a few years too. It was such a special day. Took a bit of a search to dredge some of them up but so well worth it.

Has anyone met any of their GR family contacts from overseas?

More of the first, but then you are taking in the sun when sightseeing except when you are in the car, we always hire a car for a week to travel. But the other week we do a lot of walking in the area we are staying, we do take the sun beds occasionally, but we prefer to go exploring!

Do you keep in regular contact with you're relatives?
I email a 'cousin' weekly in Dubai who is actually my parents best friends son, unfortunately they have both passed away, but they were always 'my aunt and uncle'

I wouldn't leave this country permanently, too many friends and family here but if we won a lot of money I would like a holiday home in the South of France.

When you are on holiday do you prefer to see the sights or just take in the sun and relax?

DizzieLizzie

DizzieLizzie Report 3 Aug 2009 22:09

Occasionally on a particularly good holiday we've been somewhere I thought I'd be happy to live in. Tuscany for example, such an easy going area plus good food and wine and beautiful surroundings. And the Dordogne too maybe, similar reasons and very verdant - but we discovered why. In the summers they have about a 10 day to 2 week cycle of sunshine moving on to oppressive heat relieved by thunderstorms and downpours which in themselves are quite spectacular, bit like the ones we've been having recently.

Where takes your fancy?

Anne

Anne Report 3 Aug 2009 13:20

Country, for the first 6 years of my life I lived just outside Tenterden, Kent. I would love to live back there.

Have you ever considered moving to another country to live?

DizzieLizzie

DizzieLizzie Report 3 Aug 2009 11:45

This looks like fun.

When we first planned to move to the countryside from London little did we know I was coming back to my roots. Discovered as my family tree began to grow.

Do you prefer town or country?

Anne

Anne Report 3 Aug 2009 10:38

For the contacts and to be able to help others with their trees. I have a lot of cd roms for Kent & Sussex going back to the 1500's and they are much more reliable than the IGI.

Do you live very far from where your ancestors lived ?

Do you think Vitorica Beckhan is too skinny ?

Fiona

Fiona Report 30 Jul 2009 20:09

I like the look of leather but find it extremely hard to sit on it as I am not quite 5 ft and my feet don't touch the floor so I tend to slide down the chair.

As a child I had a dog as a pet , do you have any pets?
