Yes, been waiting to try and find my gt grandma and her family - couldn't find her at all prior to her marriage in 1902! Found all sorts of interesting information - like they said they had been married 13 years when I KNOW they had only been married 9. It also stated that she'd had 7 children at that point only 6 of which were still alive - been through BMD and think I've found the missing baby. Plus it said she was born in Kensington - think now she must have been registered as Maria and not Charlotte. With that info I think I've now found the rest of her family. Exciting - I nearly wet myself!!

Have you found anything interesting from the 1911?

I knew were most of my rellies were at that time, it's the older one's I'm interested in.

Down to one cat and a rather large Newfoundland dog now but used to have more cats and an aviary outside.

*$parkling $andie* Report 11 Jan 2009 20:13

No, nearest thing I got to that sort of thing was cartwheels in Gym at school.
Loved hockey tho.

Did you ever play in a team game for your school or for your county (or country even.. lol don't know who I may be talking to here !!)..?

No - golf has never taken our fancy.

Have you ever tried doing any of the martial arts?

Know what you mean about possibly throwing things out. I'm a terrible hoarder now so my boys might find a few gems in years to come!

*$parkling $andie* Report 11 Jan 2009 19:50

CherryBlossom Report 11 Jan 2009 19:26

Yes, go regularly. Have got the gentlest Chinese/Swedish dentist and very rarely need an injection now if I ever need anything done - which is rare.

Do you watch Antiques Roadshow?

Sandie - good to know that about the daffodils as they were on my wish list.

*$parkling $andie* Report 11 Jan 2009 19:21

No

Do you go to the dentist regularly? And does it worry you to go ?

Dorothy, bet the Tree of life Necklace is beautiful, haven't seen it on someone. Hubby bought me the daffodil earnings but I was a bit disappointed with them , I like ones that you can wear comfortably even when sleeping. These are a bit clumpy to sleep in .lol. I still wear them with love.

Easter Bunny

CherryBlossom Report 10 Jan 2009 23:03

Haven't been to the hairdresser for about six months but really ought to do something with my mane now!

Have you seen Mamma Mia?

Sandie - have the Tree of Life necklace to match the ring and everyone comments on how gorgeous they are. Mmm, perhaps its time to treat myself to some more Clogau!

*$parkling $andie*

*$parkling $andie* Report 9 Jan 2009 23:07

Real jewellery.
Dorothy, I love the Tree of LIfe ring.
I also wear a Clogau Friendship ring ( I think it is called) It's like a two coloured wedding ring. Hubby bought it me when my wedding ring was causing my finger to scale and peel, wedding ring is quite a wide band. I alternate between wearing that and my wedding ring when the 'rash' flares up.

Do you go to the hairdressers regularly and go to the same one ?

CherryBlossom

CherryBlossom Report 9 Jan 2009 20:07

The only other ring I wear is a Clogau Tree of Life ring which, although we bought years before we were married, I had always intended to be my wedding ring. When the time came to get wed OH insisted on having a ring designed and made for me and to be perfectly honest I've never liked it and wear it for work. He's since bought me an ordinary engagement, eternity and wedding ring (my bling stuff for going out in) but I still love the original one best.

Do you prefer real jewellery or costume jewellery?

*$parkling $andie*

*$parkling $andie* Report 9 Jan 2009 19:20

No rather go to the dentist than the hairdressers.

Do you wear any rings other than your engagement / wedding ring on a regular basis ?

CherryBlossom

CherryBlossom Report 9 Jan 2009 18:12

No annual check up yet but am heading toward 50 so will probably get the call up for a mammogram soon. Not looking forward to that!

Are you scared of the dentist?

Anne - have got the marriage certificate and there doesn't appear to be another marriage. There are only three potential birth registrations for this lady and I've eliminated the two in London. That leaves one in Nottingham but she's six years too early although its not unfeasible that gt grandma lied about her age. I'd just always assumed she came from London. Only another few weeks hopefully and I'll be able to see what she puts down as her place of birth on the 1911 census.

*$parkling $andie* Report 9 Jan 2009 16:03

No , I have the originals of all my grandparents , earliest 1880, and my gt grandparents were buried locally so I have dates on those but not presice dates. Earliest 1750's.
I'm not sure whether to register with Ancestry or another source, as whilst I know the full details and have the documentation for my Nan 18880, some of the sites do not recognise her. Perhaps going down the GRO road is my only option.

Stuck now for a question...lol

Do you have regular medical check ups ? I'm in my 50's and have an annual MOT. !

Anne

Anne Report 9 Jan 2009 15:41

Yes, but only in case of a car breakdown or family emergency

Dorothy, re your untraceable great grandmother. I had the same problem with my 2 x great, until I sent for her marriage certificate and discovered she had been married before very briefly at the age of 19, married just before the 1841 census, been widowed and remarried my 2 x great grandfather before the 1851 census, so never appeared on any census in her maiden name.

Have you sent for many certificates to get further with your tree?

I was probably more academic when I was younger - couldn't draw for toffees! That all changed when I found patchwork and found a medium for my creativity. Started off with traditional quilts but have moved on to more 'arty' type quilts now.

Do you always carry a mobile phone?

(Got told off by OH for not taking mine the other night - however did we manage before they were invented?!)
