Rosalyn. Got the name of the doc who discharged me, but not who admitted me. The nurse chose not to confirm the discharge doc, as she wouldn't want to drop her in it.

NHS24 said to call them back immediately I start to feel worse. Think it could hit the local newspaper for my area.
At least that way, the public of a big city and surrounding areas would all know about it, Oh!, and Holyrood to. lol

Vicky,

You know my opinion of these 'medics'! and their error. Make sure you report the nurse when you feel better too. Some hospital staff assume we are all morons!

Stay awake, punch something whilst imagining it is a registrar!!

Grabagran Report 16 Mar 2008 17:52

Sue, When I punch the cushion, I'll imagine it's the nurses head lol

Going to try to eat something now, as I was starved yesterday. Told I was going to have ultrasound dome on Friday night, and I hadn't eaten since 1pm so had nothing in my stomach. Finished up, after I kicked up a stink about the ime I was spent waiting, I didn't have it done til 4.45pm Saturday. I told them I wouldn't starve an animal that long. They had the bloody cheek to offer me a roast beef sandwich, and I had to go to the machine as I was still hungry.
Oh!. Don't get me started, and yes Sue, I agree with you, but some of the staff nurses thinkg they have the authority to discharge you. Will explain later.

Sane Jayne Report 16 Mar 2008 18:52

My dad 87 year old dad has just been discharged today. He is blind and has had to come home with a catheter. Was just giving him his evening tablets and saw a new box. Opened it up and read all the stuff with the reactions that could happen which seemed a little scary. Put everything back and then looked at the front of the box, thank god, and couldnt see his name, then found a female name and hospital number. Rang the ward and they confirmed I have been given someone elses tablets by mistake. How scary to think if I had given my dad the tablet and hadnt read the box etc, or if it had been left to a carer to give them to my dad, they wouldnt have bothered to read everything I am sure. Am just debating now whether to make a formal complaint, what do you think?

Grabagran Report 16 Mar 2008 19:12

Taff. I'm back again. Joyce rang me, and that alone kept me awake lol

Have had something to eat, and am just going to settle down to watch Dancing On Ice.

I was saying to Dutch it was just as well I wasn't an elderly person and not aware of the mistake.

Doctor from hospital rang me, and she apologised, but I said it wasn't her place to apologise for her colleagues incompetence. She was under the impression I had been sent home with medication, but I wasn't. I pointed out that the doctor who had admitted me should have thought why the difference in the doseage of the tablet from morning to night. From 50mg to 10mg? Doesn't sound right does it. She said their manager would be writing to me regarding this. I also want to complain to her about something else, namely the way an 85yr old lady was treated.
Will see what the letter says WHEN it arrives.
Thanks for all your caring, but I think I will just leave the PC on for now, just in case I need help.

Take Care folks.

Love Vicky xx
