Sane Jayne. Just remember, someone else may suffer from this incompetence. I'm waiting to see what the letter says, as I will have a chance to reply to it.

If they were employed anywhere else, they would lose their jobs.

We all understand that the are overworked, but that is no excuse.

What happens if I overdose?
Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine. An overdose of OxyContin can be fatal.
Overdose symptoms may include extreme drowsiness, muscle weakness, confusion, cold and clammy skin, pinpoint pupils, shallow breathing, slow heart rate, fainting, or coma.

In view of this information I think you should be very wary, have someone with you.

P.S. I googled this information then copied and printed it.

Maddy. I'm just about at 10hrs since the does this morning, so should be ok now. I'm not allowed to take any more this evening, or tomorrow morning until I have spoken to my gp. Thing is, that doesn't stop the pain though.
Thanks Maddy, but I'm easily confused anyway lol, but seriously I do appreciate your advice.

Alyson. Yes another one, but they cover their backs at every move. It's hard to prove negligence though.

What annoys me is that the people who work for the NHS and really care about their patients are tarred with the same brush. It reflects on the service as a whole.

My daughter had to ring them yesterday for advice for my grandson who is 9. She rang at 10am and..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
it was 4pm when they rang her back. A woman had just found it in a pile, and noticed it was for a child and followed it up.

Thing is, nobody should have to wait that long for a return call.

Decided a visit to my MP is called for.

Similar thing happened to me Vicky - though not so bad - when had my knee op 3 weeks ago.
I said I wanted a sick note, and the nurse saw the 'one kidney' sign and said 'We definitely won't be giving you the usual pain killers then' and wrote alternative ones down.
Got home later that evening, took the painkillers, went to bed. Took them all the next day, and realised they hadn't given me a sick note - so phoned them up. Still havent received it.
Saturday morning was feeling really rough, dizzy, and sick.
Just about to take the next dose of pills and realised sick note and alternative painkillers were on the same note. Took a closer look at pills - 'Not to be taken if you suffer from kidney disease'. Wrong painkillers. Poor Kevin the kidney was really going through it. Didn't take anything all day, just slept, daughter kept coming up and poking me to make sure I was still alive as I was in such a deep sleep!! Then took some paracetamol when I went to bed (24 hrs had elapsed since I had taken the painkillers.)
Must admit I didn't contact the hospital - but I'm seeing a nephrologist (kidney specialist) on Tuesday, I'll take the pills along. If anything needs to be done, she'll have a lot more clout than me!!
