it,s all about moving, yes we are going, end of may

wife wants to save money by doing it ourselves, me i,d rather get the removal chappies to do it all.
so she,s in a strop and won,t talk, shes not talking , so i think i,ve gone deaf (lol).

what was the song rose

Rambling

Rambling Report 20 Mar 2008 22:25

Sorry Us...back lol....it was Al Stewart ...

re the moving....several times we have done the move ourselves (brother hired van) ...last time we had a very well known removal firm do it (though we did all the packing in boxes) ......

the removal firm sent too few men....they were less than helpful or careful...and I really wouldn't use them again.....

but you pays yer money and you takes your choice.....try and get a recommendation from someone who has used a local firm maybe? Good luck!

How about trying this tack:

"you, my darling, are very precious to me"

"Moving home is well known to be the most stressful of times"

"I so much appreciate your kindness in trying to save us money"

"But your health means much more to me than mere money"

"So, I must insist that we sacrifice a few quid in pursuit of your wellbeing, darling"

Worth a try?

suzian

suzian Report 20 Mar 2008 22:47

devious - moi?

Funny about the popcorn maker. how many things do you all have in the house that were bought on a whim and used for a week, only to be put awaY/

I'll offer a couple:

A Breville toasted sarnie maker. A week or two of toasted peanut butter and marmalade; toasted sardine and old socks or whatever the Breville recipe book had to offer and then - the loft.

A footspa. Three whole weeks of baby soft feet and then - the loft.

Oh, and the bread maker. OH had to have a bread maker. Making bread is apparently man's work. Washing the bits up afterwards isn't. Now, where shall we stash this breadmaker?

Lol Sue

Robert

Robert Report 20 Mar 2008 22:58

with me it was a anthony worral thompson grill that would not close properly on sausages.

a footspa that was lethal on anybody with feet size 11 or over.

a jamie oliver marinade shaker that i could do quicker my self. oh and the piece de ristance a gizmo for slicing veg , when i have a 30 year old mandolin wich does the job far better.

suzian

suzian Report 20 Mar 2008 23:04

In the loft there is also .......... an Anthony WT grill. Gone and until recently forgotten.

Do you reckon we could sell this lot to the Ruskis?
