Thought I'd let you all know that my d.i.l and son spent 2 hours with the oncologist and the news is that they don't think it has spread to her pelvis and the prognosis seems better than we thought.
She is going in to have her hip replacement in the next 2 weeks.
Thanks for all the positive thoughts and prayers.I'm sure they have helped.

Haven't been on here much in the last week, internet problems.
however I spoke to my d.i.l last night, and she seems very positive.she learned during the week that the consultant doesn't think she will have to have Chemo,She has to have some tests on the tissue surrounding her hip this coming week and if it hasn't spread to her pelvis and only affects the ball joint on her femur it may be just the hip she needs and not cut into her pelvis and be a much worse scenario.
They have told the children as the 9 year old was getting a bit worried with possibly overhearing telephone conversations.
They went away to the mountains last week end and going again next week, and trying to be as normal as poss.
she has had all the members of her group from"The Journey" praying for her,and all my friends here, including all of you, which I appreciate very much,so with all the positivity and prayers I believe she will come through this challenge.
She was telling me that she is coming back here next July to her sister's wedding. My son also seems happier.will keep you posted.

Brenda, that's good news and you must be relieved. Having the visit to her sister's wedding will give her something to aim for too, so hope all the positivity works well and the family can stay strong, enjoying life as much as possible.
Take care, and try not to worry too much

Thought I would c&p this message from son this morning,it is very positive.

We found out today that Jane's hip operation will be on Tuesday 18th Nov - sooner than we thought.

The cancer only extends to the femur (not in pelvis or joint area) so the operation will be relatively simple. There is some muscle attachment reason that will require her to wear a hip brace for 3 months. This brace will be pretty heavy duty and will extend below the knee. She may not be able to drive for a while. If all goes well we anticipate that she will return to normal activity - probably just give up running. Walking, cycling & swimming should be OK as before.

Hospital stay will be one week.

Chemo unlikely but the operation will reveal more details.

We're doing OK here, a few ups and downs. The crutches make life difficult for Jane. She has to use 2 crutches even around the house (to protect the fragile femur). This makes it difficult to do chores, carry things etc. Frustration for Jane and extra work for me (done happily). I'll be taking some time off next week.
