What a positive message from your son Brenda, and a lovely little addition (happily done) - he sounds a star!
I am so pleased the op will be soon and hope the outcome is a really good one for everyone's sake. Now you can ease up on the worrying a bit I hope so you don't feel so sad.
Lots of luck to Jane and all the family, sounds as tho they pull together and will be strong.

Good to hear some positive news Brenda, hope everything goes ok. Tell her that the crutches will be a pain, but she'll cope (speaking from experience, my son is just recovering from breaking his leg 6 months ago!) She'll learn to be very adaptable...lol...

Love to you all.

Thank you everyone for your support.
Maggy, she is already on crutches, and I suppose as a physiotherapist she has probably advised others how to get along, but it is different when it's for yourself.

My son has always taken a big share in chores and looking after the children as do a lot of modern fathers these days.
I learned today from Jane's mum(who has just come out of hospital having had a big operation for Crohns disease)that Jane is having the top bone cancer professor in Victoria do the operation,so that will give her confidence.

Jane has had her operation, although will perhaps find out more tonight. They kept her waiting till 3 pm as her prothesis wasn't ready, but she rang her mum in Wales soon after coming out of recovery.According to my son they will have taken quite a bit of her femur away, hence the harness which will be on for 3 months.Just hope it hasn't travelled anywhere else.
will keep you posted and hope you will say a prayer or two for it to be a success.son is also tired out with trying to work, and look after kids and house plus spending a lot of time at the hospital.
My blood pressure was very high today when I saw the nurse, but it's not surprising in the circumstances.Have to see doc next week.

My continued thoughts and prayers are with you Brenda and your family.

I feel ashamed when I moan about a little ache and pain when there are people having radical surgery such as your DIL.

Hiya Brenda..... thank goodness the op is over and all seems to be as well as could be.... my prayers and thoughts are with Jane as she begins the slow road to recovery... and for your son and grandchildren too.

It must be so difficult for you and for Jane's family as well, living so far away.

I do hope Jane's mum soon feels better after her own op.

Loads of love

Daff xxxx

I also hope your blood pressure soon reurns to normal as well.... take care of yourself! xxxxxx

Thanks Tina and Daff....and Daff I do keep thinking of you coping so wonderfully with everything you have gone through lately.
I keep well in touch with Jane's mum and she is doing remarkably well since it is just over a week since she had 6" of intestine taken away. She even went out yesterday. If either of us hear anything,we let the other know as we only have a short time slot to phone Oz.

Brenda, glad the op is over and hope things go better for the family now, even tho poor Jane will still be struggling with the harness etc. Hope your son can cope with all the work and juggling things and the news is good when the results come through. You take care and hope Jane's Mum is ok soon too.

Thought I'd let you know the latest re Jane.

She has been doing very well, although her wound has been weeping so they are keeping her in in case of infection.
Apparently because they have taken quite a bit of her femur away, including surrounding muscle, they have wired some back muscle to the prosthesis, but she is getting around with crutches and she doesn't have to have the harness/brace.
She managed to walk round the 9th floor of the hospital, the floor she is on, with the children on Saturday.
Son had to go in to work for a little while today and would you believe, the 7 year old is off with a cough,so he was taking her in with him.would happen at this time.
Jane is very upbeat about her condition but can't wait to get home.
