Sachs has accepted their apologies - should that be the end of it ?

Whether they did this as "celebrities" on a radio station or whether they are ordinary Joe's off the street the fact remains they have overstepped the mark a crime has been committed they must be punished - shows what ar land as come to when people see the likes of these as "role models" and put them forward as the best that can be offered !! They are NOT above the law are they ?

The number of people who listened to the original recording is irrelevant.

The fact that the programme was broadcast by the BBC and two of its highest profile entertainers were responsible for the stupid and puerile phone calls brings the whole ethos of the BBC into question.

This is supposed to be the state broadcasting company which has always commanded considerable respect at home and abroad. If the BBC condones this sort of unpleasantness then why should we pay our licence fees to support them?

Why on earth did Gordon Brown feel he had to pass comment? Hasn't he got something more important to think about like the impending recession?

The complaints only came in once the media picked up the story.
The original 2 were over the use of the F word.

How many people actually heard the original broadcast? I know I wasn't one of them. I was one who sought sought out the recording after the media grabbed the story.

I think this was absolutely obscene. I am pretty sure that if a teenager did this to an elderly person everyone would want something done about it.

The fact that they are celebrities for me just makes it worse, surely they should be people to look up to or atleast to entertain but i fail to see how anyone could find making lewd phonecalls such as these amusing. A suspension is hardly a punishment for them at all, they have money coming out of their ears and will be back in a few weeks.

surely part of the reason some teens behave this badly is because of shows such as these that are allowed to air because they MAY be funny to SOME people.

I think there is something in the "Wireless Telegraphy Act" which would make what they did an offence in law.Not sure but I vaguely remember it.No doubt somebody on here will know more.**M**.

Hi All, does no-one remember the recordings of Peter Cook & Dudley Moore......ok they neva left messages for anyone but it was on the same level...

If peeps tune into RB & JR then be prepared n the first place, secondly they only received 500 or so complaints wen the show was actually aired..now they have recived ova 10,000 by peeps who wud neva tune in or listen to them anyway...

Yet another trial by media if u ask me!!!

you are most certainly not in the minority Barbara, there are few who wouldn't agree with you - enough is enough, where will it all end - you hear five year old children using four letter words in the street

If I see a film credit and it says there is lots of swearing and violence, I am quite likely not to watch it, so why don't film directors take this into acount when ther're making the films because I don't think I'm in the minority over this, I for one will never watch RB or JR again, out of choice.

I have been thinking about Mary Whitehouse.............now I know she was seen as an interfering busybody by many, but someone like her should be around again maybe??

I hate gratuitous violence on TV, I really don't like the swearing which peppers a lot of films either.

I think when we are put to it - if this was a member of our family we would be outraged they have crossed the line but sadly this will give them more attention from the media and more prospects of work - the poor girl involve -I can't even think what I'd do if it was one of mine !!!!

I agree with Kay, they crossed the line with this, and should not expect mercy, after all, they showed no mercy to their victims.

Yes this is far too personal to go unheeded - the way our world is today people do take offence far too easily but these two have over-stepped the mark regardless who they are they must be punished and like I said before more heads should be rollin also

There is a vast difference between the odd swear on TV/less on Radio,not a problem with me, its part of everyday life,,,,,,,,but those remarks were left on a voice mail.,to an innocent party,,,,,then aired before the whole nation, two days later,,,,,,that is where a fine line has been crossed, it wasnt the call it was the content,,**now reveal by the grandaughter as true facts**,but why reveal it to the grandfather in such a crude way,what happened was the grandaughter private life and therefore enlightened the whole nation to what she may have wanted to be kept ------private,,

A couple of weeks back on the national news they were saying that thousands of pensioners would die from the cold this winter...not that they might die, it was said as though we should just expect it, as this happens every winter. This makes my blood boil when we're talking about two people like Ross and Brand and the obscene amount of money they earn.

Some people seem to think that when they become celebrities they are able to behave in ways that would normally be totally inappropriate.

If this had been some minor local radio DJ calling an unknown elderly citizen in a similar way I'd expect that person to be sacked for bad conduct. The fact that Ross and Brand are already well known makes this in some ways even worse.

As members of the community whose lives are in the media they should behave like responsible adults.

This so called prank was more like the action of two drunken teenage yobs and to have people like this employed by the BBC is simply not on.

They have been paid enormous sums of money to "entertain" us and I just hope they've been saving for a rainy day because I think they shouldn't work on TV or radio again.
