You are quite sneaky on the quiet Diane - I think that's a good idea though not being home - they will play up again if they get a whiff of meter being returned.
I am having lunch with a friend today - I think she was born in Nottingham - her grandfather was the Sheriff of Nottingham which always amused me. She lives south of Auckland and we sort of meet half-way to have a catch-up. We didn't have time before Christmas and she and her family went down to Motueka (near Nelson) to her parents for Christmas. Her Dad often comes up to Auckland on his trike - he has one the same as Billy Connellys but he had one long before Billy did. He used to have a ponytail as well but finally decided when he turned 60 a year or so ago to get it cut short.

Hi Sue and Pat, hope you are both well,

Sue I too would like to travel, but unable to at the moment as I don't have the mean's to, when I do I would like to see more of my own Country first as there are many places I haven't seen, I would like to go to Scotland first and then work my way down to the South of the Country. If I ever get the chance the places I would like to visit abroad are ( first to last ) N. Zealand, Austrlia, Canada, Egypt, Paris and then Las Vegas.

Pat, I have lived in my flat for 7yrs and as yet have not decorated my bedroom, as my son is leaving home this Wednesday I will be able to move my bedroom furniture into his room and then make a start on my room. I can't wait as I have wanted to do it for so long and already have a lot of thing's to put in it once it is done and have had a colour scheme in mind for about 3yrs. So when I start I will be missing from the thread's until it is finished.

Good evening/morning all

Please don't talk to me about weird weather.

Although yesterda's official temp for Bunbury was recorded as 35c at 8.00 am at home it was 39 and stayed there most of the day.

Last night we had a shower lastig all of fiveminutes, just before midnight. Not enough rain to register in the guage but technically the rain broke our dry spell of 59 days...the longest dry spell for 15 years.

This morning, very cloudy, muggy and temp sitting on 27c and the sun is not even up yet.

I had a win and a loss yesterday.

The loss was relating to the distortion of glass (as Linda will recall) where it seems that for years I have been supporting an urban myth.

Old glass is distorted due to the manufacturing process ans for no other reason.

The win? I've finally convinced my GP that I suffer from white coat hypertension.

I monitor my own blood pressure at home but haven't been recording it. Everything is fine but when I see my GP it zooms up to 160/100.

She has sent me to the Specialist who hasn't found anything sinister and I've also had the 24 hr monitor used which showed that every thing is normal.

Yesterday I had to see her for a blood pressure check and this time I took in a whole series of readings taken between yesterday and when I last saw her in December, all of which were fine.

So now after 10 years....white coat hypertension.

Diane it's crazy habving to notify some one that they are about to be monitored: it defeats the whole purpose of the exercise!

Perse, do you know what part of Nottingham your friend was born, my son will be just outside Mansfield. Yes I am sneaky arn't I lol, I was hopeing he would be his usual noisey self over the weekend but sadly he wasn't, a letter came to mine for him today as it had A instead of B on the address so I am going to return it to the post office with NOT KNOWN AT THIS ADDRESS, he he, that will teach him to mess with me, ( I hope it's an important letter ).

Yes Sue I would say it was down to Diana - but I think his grandmother has realised the importance of what the people want after Diana's funeral.
She told William to go on facebook and beebo - so I think grandma is far more with it than Charles is.

I reckon this bedroom of yours is going to be really neat - and I hope that bed of yours is comfortable and gives you a goodnight's sleep Pat.
I hate buying a new bed - going around testing them - but you can't really tell until you actually sleep in it.

Persey.

Last trip to the UK we went to Nottingham Forest and the Robin Hood Centre. They had a fair over that weekend and had wandering minstrels and food stalls. It was great. There was even a fight which looked really authentic and had everyone in stitches.

Pat - you must describe your room once it's finished. We're all excited for you:-))

Diane - you are wicked:-))

Hi Allan, I totally agree with you, but the law state's you have to as it's an invasion of privacy if the Council don't make them aware it is being done, and when it goe's to court they can contest on these ground's and then the case would be thrown out of court.

Hi Allan,
Your Doctor should have realised he raised your blood pressure. I had my blood pressure taken during the 1998 world cup and it had gone up!
I'm going to make myself a cup of coffee now.
Yes, perse my bedroom should look really nice when it's all finished. I expect you found that having a place done up causes a fair amount of upheaval!

Good evening Pat,

I should point out that my GP is female, not male. I can assure you that that has no bearing on the rise in blood pressure when I see her!!

Good Morning/Evening,

I think that to travel is the most exciting thing anyone can do. If you like to travel, can afford it, then you should while you can. Unfortunately, we are not able to travel now, and I regret that we left it 'till neither of us is really fit enough. I'm lucky to have travelled all over the world, and loved every minute. I wanted to take OH to places abroard that she wanted to see, but we spent our time, and our money renovating property, always intending to travel later. Unfortunately OH became unwell, and I have something called chronic heart failure, and doubt any airline would accept me.
We have relatives in Hong Kong, and friends in Vancouver who are constantly nagging us to go for a holiday, but that's out.
So, if you can - do it - while you can.

Currently watching Billy Conelly on a ship going through the North West Passage Canada......very interesting.

Allan OH is exactly the same as you. He was taking blood pressure tablets, but probably never needed to. When the GP sat and talked to him, then took his blood pressure again, it was always much lower than when he first went in. He bought a meter to use at home and the GP tested it to make sure it was reading correctly. He then recorded his results at home and produced a nifty Excel graph. Having come off the tablets he is still fine

Sori - Hi Allan

I missed your entry at the bottom of the page and what a long medical entry it was too - wasn't till I saw Diane mention your name that I knew you were here.

You are getting more norty every time you get on here Diane - I hope we are really going to enjoy the outcome of all of this. The law can be an ass at times Diane - it is called Blind Justice.

I finally got hold of my travel advisor late this afternoon. We were thinking of just going to somewhere like Lanzarote for just a week, but you can't guarantee the temperature at this time of year,so we are off to Mexico on Monday for two weeks.

Hello everyone. Hope everyone is OK. Looks like a nice day here. Forecast is for 27/28 all week. Hope it's right.

Diane - can't you turn on your TV, DVD and Radio all at the same time....LOUD!!! Won't matter if YOU disturb THEM as long as the monitor captures it!

Linda - go for it. We had a caravan on site for a few years and it was great to have our teenagers wanting to be there (for the water skiing, of course, but nevertheless, with us!). As they got older, we started to go away for weekends and disposed of the caravan in favour of just getting in the car to go wherever we wanted for the weekend. That, too, was great but unfortunately, we only did it a couple of times before my OH became ill and died at 65
As you said, you never know when illness is going to strike, as it did to us, to I urge you to make the most of it for as long as you can. You've worked for it - enjoy it!

Linda - you can't go for two weeks. What about us???

I wish you hadn't told us about your "dicky ticker" Tec. I'm going to worry now:-(
