Good evening everyone.
I hope that Diane's granddaughter is fine, a cut on the foot will be a real nuisance for walking for a while

Tec, I hope that you are going to get the Duchess posting on this thread as well, you would have to behave yourself then!

I don't understand the download thing Allan

Good Morning Allan,
OH never touches the PC, mainly because it's at the top of the house up two staircases, and the room isn't normally heated.
She wanted the laptop to look at things she is interested in, and to keep in closer contact with relatives/friends abroad etc.
I suppose if I'm on the PC upstairs, she could always e-mail :))

Good evening Linda,

My ISP download plan has two periods, peak and off peak.

Until recently the Broadband plan I was on allowed 4gb of downloads in off peak and 2 gb in peak period . If these limits were exceeded then the speed of the srvice was restricted unti the next month's allocation kicked in.

Peak period was 1200 noon until 0200 am.

A few weeks ago we received an email from them to say that they had increased our gb allowance at no cost!

Very generous of them but the fine print was that they had altered the peak and off peak period

Peak is now 0800 until 0200 am

Off peak 0200 until 0800.

I'm not sure if these times are WA or Eastern States. Our ISP is based in Perth, and is the 3rd largest provider in Australia..

Mid you, having had that grouse we do not come anywhere near the limits!

Good Evening Linda,

I agree about Diane's grand daughter and her cut foot, that can be so painful, and awkward to get about - I know from experience.

I'm not having the Duchess posting on here - it's the only chance I get to mis-behave these days, and I'm not giving that up

Good evening/morning everyone! Another hot one coming up here - but I have to go out in it to-day, so I'll notice it then! Stayed in with the aircon on yesterday and wouldn't know what was going on outside!

Tec - that's a good idea - email each other. It saves walking up and down the stairs! People laugh when I tell them I email my neighbours. I think that's better than interrupting them, don't you? What you need to watch is when you start to realise you haven't SEEN each other for a while.......!!

I have my main computer upstairs, but bought the lap top so I could sit downstairs with OH.I am not sure if that was a good idea because I have just had to sit through a whole football match. My son did very clever things to it,so that it is networked with the main computer. It means that I can work on my tree, or any files from either computer and they are always in synch.

Good morning Berona, I am looking forward to having to worry about the heat!

Allan, it is unheard of here to have peak and off peak times on the broadband. I have unlimited downloads, within a reasonable level. I have no idea what that means, but as I don't download huge files, it is never likely to be a problem to me

Good morning Berona

Linda, I think that I am correct in saying that most Australian ISP's have peak and off peak periods. I'm with iinet so if any any one in Oz is with Optus or Telstra (Big Pond) they may let us know.

Good Morning Berona,

I hope it doesn't get too hot as you have to go out in it.
Are you able to drive at the moment with your legs playing up, you may like to know that I was thinking about that at 3am recently when I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep.

The Duchess thinks I live in cyber space as it is, if I start e-mailing her I think she might leave home, or throw me and my laptop out

Berona Report 20 Jan 2010 22:26

Tec - thank you for thinking of me at 3am!!???
I have not attempted to go anywhere on my own since Christmas day. I ran the car in the garage for more than half an hour, then my daughter took it and used it whilst hers was having work done on it and she picked me up in it and I drove it home from her place to my garage about a week ago, without any problems. I can do anything with my legs from a sitting position!! I feel there would be no problem driving it, but I can't go anywhere because I would not be able to walk far when I got out of it!
Also, my daughter wants to know what's going on with me and wants to come with me to hear what the doc has to say, so we go in her car.

Hi Tec,Linda, Berona, Allan and Sue,
My grand-daughter had her op today, I haven't spoken to her but she sent a text to my son before he left for Nottingham, so I don't really know how she is or whether she is still in hospital.
It seemed weird comeing home to a empty flat, when I came home at about 9pm I went into his room and it was strange seeing it empty except for the wardrobe, a desk and a few small item's.

Tec your OH might decide to join us, it would be nice to chat to the Duchess herself but it would meen you would have to behave yourself lol.

Good evening Diane. I'm sure that your granddaughter will be fine.

Once both our children had left home it was strange going into their old rooms and seeing them almost bare of furniture.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 20 Jan 2010 22:40

Berona I can understand what you mean about driving the car but not being able to walk far from it. Whatever happened started with those cramps didn't it - seems wrong of the doctor to dismiss it as just cramps. I do hope they can sort it out for you, must be very frustrating.
It's good that your daughter is coming with you - the only time OHs doctor took things seriously was when I went in with her and made it very clear that I wasn't happy with his apparent apathy - he soon pulled his socks up.

Linda I don't do it on a wednesday unless it's a roll-over.

Tec I have sent her a message on facebook and I am waiting for a reply, she said on her facebook wall yesterday that she will be going out with her friend's on Saturday ( I don't think so ) I don't think she realises she will have difficulty walking with stitches in her foot.

It is very odd when they first leave home Diane, but look on the positive side, you have an extra wardrobe for your clothes now. I have mine spread out all over the house now. I don't know how I managed when they were here.

Well I got two numbers on the lottery, but that is no use, so the cruise is still on hold
