Hi Linda and Berona

Linda not at the moment hun as I have to make my bed and I am getting a bath soon and then I will relax when I get out.

Berona I have alway's wanted a seperate room to do my sewing but before I get it all set up I want to decorate my bedroom first as I need to put all my bedroom furniture into his room to do it.

Sue don't worry about me eating properly hun, my employer's mum usually make me 3or4 meal's aweek as she is used to cooking for 3, and since her husband passed away she has continued to cook for 3, me being the 3rd person. As for less washing and ironing, my son alway's did his own washing and sometime's did some of mine because he has been out of work, but even when he worked he would do his own washing.

My noisey neighbour has just come in and is playing some sort of game on his TV, if he continue's after 11pm I will record it as it is loud enough to record.

I hope that you do manage to get there today Berona.

Good evening Allan,

Diane

Diane Report 21 Jan 2010 21:35

Hi Allan you snuck in while I was posting, yes she is back home and I hope she rest her foot as I don't won't to hear that she has bust her stitches by not being a good girl ( teenager's ) they never listen until they learn the hard way.

I'm going to get my bath now after I have made my bed so I might not get back in time to speak to you all before you leave for the night/ day, but I will try.

Hello Allan. "The stock answer was "well go for it and in future do not bother phoning or coming into the office, I'll only respond to letters so that there is no misunderstanking about what has been said" Perfect answer and advice - thank you. I do hope I'm not boring you all with this ongoing saga.

Diane - I get annoyed when people - mostly family members - say that my son should be out of the house. He works long hours, does most of his washing and pays board. He doesn't do much around the house unless his dad asks for help in the yard etc.

Berona

Berona Report 21 Jan 2010 21:39

I had a lucky breakthrough with my tree. Some time ago, Hot Matches led to contact with a lady who was doing the family tree of my great grandmother. I had only her parents. This lady asked for details of my Dad and his siblings, which I sent.
She then said that a CD was being prepared and would let me know when it was ready for distribution...well, this week she has advised that it's ready and contains over 400 pages and includes photos, maps, land records, newspaper articles, convict records and certificates. 3400 names, cemetery records, etc......and she only wants $10 (includes postage and packing!).!!!
I'm rapt! I suppose she feels she would have spent what she did for her own family anyway, and that she has been given help by those of us who are interested - but I would be happy to have contributed more than $10 towards it! I'm looking forward to receiving my copy! Oh, if only I could get as lucky with the other seven great-grandparents!

My son came back twice as well Sue, before he finally moved out. I was really happy to have him here.He managed to save up a fair bit of money, which was much better than living on his own and having all the bills .

SueMaid Report 21 Jan 2010 21:46

Lucky you Berona - I'd have paid 3 x that for the CD. It will be invaluable. I too have a CD with family information but no where near as extensive as yours.

Linda - my son has been able to buy a really nice car over the last 18 months. He saved a lot of the money while living here and he discussed that with us before he took out a small loan and bought it. A car is just a car to me but I think buying the car gave my son a sense of achievement.

Allan Report 21 Jan 2010 21:49

Sue, not boring at all and sometimes it helps to have a different perspective of the problem.

Berona, what a nice gesture. I wish I could a) find the early records of my paternal Grandfather and b) find any traces of my maternal Grandfather: all I have of this gentleman is his surname. My Gran never married him as she was already married, but years later both of his children (my mother and her brother) legally took his surname.

Linda at last count, my son has ben back three times and my daughter once!

Tec I should have said earlier but I'm glad that you are in fine fettle. I hope that the same applies to your OH

Berona Report 21 Jan 2010 22:05

Sue - I know what you mean. I always resented people who made remarks about my son 'still living with his mother'. He was 36 before he left.
He had tried flatting with a mate - but the mate married, so son came home.
I argue, why should he pay a high price for accomodation in a strange place when he has the run of the entire property at my place? Not only did I have his company, but he also took care of the lawns, gardens and did all repairs - free of charge. Both of us benefited from it. The others, too could see both of us at the same time and I could cook meals that I knew he liked. He did offer to pick up any shopping, etc. but I never used him that way. If he stayed out overnight, I was only interested to know so that I wouldn't worry, and he gave me the courtesy of telling me whether or not he intended to do that.
Why should he pay someone else (who would need to make a profit) when I didn't need to profit from him, and he covered the extra cost, so that I didn't notice any difference financially when he finally left to go into his own home?

LindainHerriotCountry Report 21 Jan 2010 22:14

That is how we felt Berona, apart from a bit of extra food, his being here didn't cost us any more, we would be paying the bills for the two of us in any case. We never charged him rent, we were just glad to see him save. He always helped with the jobs around the place and was always willing to buy things when we let him

SueMaid Report 21 Jan 2010 22:21

Our son pays board but it's very minimal. He certainly wouldn't be able to live away on what he gives us. Like your son Berona - if he stays away overnight he rings to tell me or warns me beforehand. I really don't worry about him being out and about. He isn't a heavy drinker and he prefers to go out and play snooker or cards than go to nightclubs. He's into martial arts and when he isn't training he's going to tournaments so we really don't see too much of him.

Tecwyn Report 21 Jan 2010 22:23

Good Morning/Evening Everyone,

Sorry but I got sidetracked teaching OH how to do smething on her laptop.

My daughter left at 18 to do a four year degree course, then took a job in London, then got married - so she never lived at home again after age 18.

Linda I have not forgotten about the dining room, apparently neither have you (the female brain) but as the kitchen is a bigger job, I had better get on with that before decorating the dining room, which would only take a weekend.........I do really feel for your OH.

Sue, I do hope that you get your problem sorted out, but don't be bullied or intimidated by these people. These difficult problems do arise from time to time in all organisations, and I know from experience what a worry it can be trying to do the right thing.

Berona, What a great thing the promised CD will be, I'm sure you can hardly wait to get busy with it.
By the way - I have no need to have fantasies, there isn't time with all the ladies in the village hurling themselves at my feet.
I'm quite sure Allan has a similar predicament where he lives.

Allan, How do you handle the above situation? and do you print your own autographed photo's?

I don't know what you mean Tec, I am very understanding about decorating. I merely inquired about when he was intending to use the tins of paint he bought just before Christmas. There was no need for him to chunter so much

I love teasing OH by looking around the room and saying " mmmm.....this room could do with a coat of paint". He goes very quiet and the colour drains from his face:-))) It does keep him on his toes.

I hope that you have a licence for the camp site you are running Allan. Given your "charms" you must be raking in the camping fees
