Hi Barbra - I don't think anyone has heard from Alison - we're all hoping that she will contact us soon. Is your brother improving?

Persephone Report 22 Jan 2010 23:39

Well - we are going to a different Freedom shop in a few mins so must away.

My OH is into country music - and a few others - but there is a lot of what they call country which he definitely does not like.

Hope you are okay our Alison - get that son to send a message.

Cheers all

I sent a message to Ali the other day - it has just recently been opened so she knows we are thinking of her. Let's hope we hear from her soon. If you're looking Ali - we are always thinking of you lovely girl.

I also love the Tony Hancock sketch on giving blood:-))

Glad to know there was an episode on giving blood, Tec. I thought you might have meant was I suicidal? Far from it - in fact, I'll be most annoyed if I don't reach 100.
I probably did see the episode, but it's been many years since that show was on here and I don't think it was ever re-run.

I enjoyed his sketch on giving blood, but not as much as I did his Test Pilot sketch with Kenneth Williams

That was funny, Allan but I really loved the sketch where he goes into a cafe and makes a meal out of hot water, tomato sauce and a bread roll.

Bye Perse, Enjoy your trip to Freedom.

Allan - I enjoyed the Test Pilot episode, also when Hancock answers a Mayday call on his amature sp radio.

Berona, I hope you do make it to a hundred. On TV news here they featured a lady of 102 who died today, she was still working up to last week in her fish and chip shop that she and her husband opened in 1928.
About three years ago she recieved an MBE from the Queen.

Well as it's nearly midnight, I must go to bed.
Enjoy your day if it's already Saturday, and sleep well if it's not.

Goodnight Tec

Good night Tec. Sleep well.
There must have been a re-run here for you all to remember the episodes. Looks like I must have missed it. Perhaps it was in the days when I didn't get much opportunity to say what I wanted to see on TV.

Allan - I won't be working at that age. I don't work now!! That lady deserve a medal!
Well, I am beginning to realise that I had an early breakfast. Must go and get some lunch. Talk to you all again later.

Hello lovely people:-))

Berona..I'm glad you finally had your blood tests done. I hope you are staying nice and cool, the heat up your way has been really bad..we had a very hot day yesterday, its much cooler today.

We had a really nice day in Daylesford yesterday, the girls had a great trail ride. We didn't get home until around 7 o'clock in the evening. I went "church spotting" I couldn't believe that they have so many churches in Daylesford. One church we visited, I wanted to go inside - but my son had a panic attack, he said the place was creepy (he's really sensitive to old places) this church was built in the 1860's. A beautiful type of blue stone building with lead light windows.
We then went to the ice-cream shop, had the best ice-cream and stocked up on lollies (sweets) OH has the worst sweet tooth!!!

Today was my nieces daughter's first birthday, we all went out for lunch at a local hotel, here. They make the best parma:-)) I still cant believe I'm a great Aunty!!!!

Must fly, my taxi services are required:-))

Carole,

being a great Aunt or Uncle sounds so distinguished.

Whilst OH and myself are not grandparents (yet!) we are the great uncle and aunt to four..

I'm pleased that the girls had a great day, and don't worry about your son. As i know from experience that younger people are more sensitive to various atmospheres, than us older, cynical, people are!

Berona, I believe that it was Tec who posted about the elderly lady but I'm sure that you willl still be going strong for many years

Good evening Sue,

Five minutes of rain tonight and very humid!

When I was young I was intimidated by my great Aunts and Uncles...I thought that they were so old!

Allan...
It does "sound" distinguished, I reckon I'm too young to be a great anything!!!
What was really nice today was that little miss one year old, had her great grand parents in attendance:-)) and yes, I made sure I took a group family photo.

Carole, that is fantastic!

I never knew my grand fathers let alone my Great Grand parents.

Even though little Miss one year old may not remember the day, the photos will be there as a constant reminder.

Thank Heaven for the progress in being able to record family events.

Allan...
That's sad you didn't know your grand parents, mine are all gone, now:-( But I did know my fathers parents, my mothers parents lived in another country - so I didn't get to know them:-(( I do have photos, so I'm thankful for those!!

Carole, I remember both my grandmothers as at various times they both lived with us ( but not at the same time)

My grandfathers both died before I was born but I do have a couple of photos of my paternal Grandfather who died in 1930

I never knew my grandparents on my mothers side as they were dead before I was born. On my fathers side, his mother died when I was in my mid twenties, so obviously I knew her. I was only two and a half when my paternal grandfather died, but his being brought home from hospital is my earliest memory. An ambulance brought him home from hospital and he was put into a single bed which had been put in the corner of the room downstairs. When I mentioned it, my mother said that I could not have remembered as I was too young, but when i described it to my dad, he said that was exactly what had happened

I am fortunate to remember my paternal Gt Grandmother - she died when I was five years old, aged 89 yrs, born in 1857. I remember her as a little white haired old lady, with no teeth, and a walking stick.

My paternal Grandfather died when I was 10 yrs old, and paternal Grandmother died when I was 24 yrs old, so I remember them well.

Maternal Grandfather died when I was barely two, so no recollection of him. Maternal Grandmother was 92 when she died, I was 40 then. She was very instrumental in my upbringing and I spent much time with her as a boy. She was very strict, but I got on very well with her.
