Hi Allan how's you hun,
I think I'd stay at home as well, can't stand crowd's especially drunk one's.
I got stuck in the crowd's in Liverpool when they had the opening in the city centre of Capital of culture 2008, took me half an hour to get from Williamson square to Lime street, usually a 3min walk, I felt so hemmed in.

Diane - I'm so glad you got your evidence. Hopefully, it will be worth being kept awake to get it!

Tec - you're very quiet. Are you with us?

Allan - enjoy your fireworks. What better place to watch it than your own home?

I don't expect to hear any evidence of celebrations around my place. There are far too many people around here who are not interested in Australia - they are here to make money, get an education, and probably return to where they came from - or bring out other members of their families.
When I went to the pathologists on Saturday, I walked in at 8:15am and the place was packed! While I waited my turn, I looked around and noticed that there was an even mixture of 'anglo' Australians and dark-complexioned people of foreign origin. I also noticed that the anglo's were all elderly whilst the others were all young with families. This made me realise that the area is changing. As the older ones die off, their homes are being bought by the young immigrants. Made me feel like a foreigner in the suburb where I have lived for near to fifty years!

Good evening Diane

I enjoy a drink myself, but I hate how aggresive some people become after a few.....quite possibly because they have been indulging in other substances, plus the booze.

Even as a kid living in Manchester, I followed Manchester City, not because I liked them but I lived within walking distance of Maine Road, and there was never the crowds that went to see Man U.

I hope that your evidence is helpful

Good Evening Diane,

Keep your fingers crossed for a positive outcome, when hopefully peace will break out in your little corner of the world. I do hope so.
We only had a noise problem from a neighbour once when we lived somewhere else. Our house wasdetached but on a steep hill - the house next door was not that close, but because of the gradient it meant that their lounge was level with our bedroom. The man lived alone and was in the entertainment business. He would arrive home at 2 am and put on loud music - the thump of the base was very annoying, and we couldn't sleep through it. I spoke to him several times, to no avail.
Solved the problem by telling a friends son he could use my garage to practice on his drums during the school holidays while we were at work. The neighbour slept 'till 4pm as he worked such odd hours.
He put up with the drumming for a week, then came to see me, to declare a truce - if I stopped the drumming, he would stop the music.
Problem solved - I think he bought himself some earphones.

Hi Berona,

I did talk to you earlier, but I think you missed my post - I was enquiring about your legs - perhaps it's a tad indelicate to ask after a lady's legs- you can box my ears if you can catch me :))

I'm alwaysquiet, wherever I am

Berona Report 25 Jan 2010 23:30

Sorry Tec. Must have missed it. The legs are very slowly improving but until I see the specialist on Saturday, I don't know whether to rest or exercise. Doc said to do what I feel capable of (?), so I'm sitting most of the time! I was only capable of walking about twenty paces before my muscles objected to being used - now I seem to be able to do more than thirty paces, so I've started counting to see if I can improve it!

How have you and the duchess been lately? Any problems? Hope you are both going along OK. Don't worry about the birthday - it's just another number - and you still have a way to go to catch up to me!

Hi Berona and Tec
Finger's crossed with my neighbour problem.

Do any of you know KeithHoff on other thread's? Just seen a post by another member( Beejay) that Keith has had a stroke, hope he is ok, he is a fello Scouser.

Berona it is so wrong that people are allowed to take advantage of another country's good will, we have the same problem here, getting all the benifit's we have to offer and then returning to there own country haveing made a profit at the exspence of us tax payer's.

Allan I wouldn't go anywhere near Liverpool's home ground around match time, my X live's near the football ground and has problem's parking his car outside his house unless he has his resident's permit on the window screne, he has had a ticket a few time's parking outside his own front door, when he has forgotten to display his permit and when it's a Manchester United v Liverpool match he make's sure his car is on his drive-way and the gate's are closed as his car can be at risk of the tyre's being slashed or something else happening to it.

Berona,

It's a very good sign that your walking distance has improved - I'm not medical but I'm sure it's better to exercise and do what you can without putting strain on your legs. Even a few extra paces a day shows you are going forward, not backwards, if you know what I mean.

We are ok thank you for asking - OH still has occassional funny turns, but nothing we can't handle. She still can't be left for long, but I think that situation is with us for keeps now.
I am alright - I take handfulls of tablets every day and hope I don't explode.
The old ticker keeps ticking, and I ignore it as best I can.

Diane, I do know of Keith, but have only ever "spoken" to him once. As you know I don't usually post on other threads. I'm sorry to hear he is ill, and hope he's better soon.

Ooer Tec - minus 1. Just as I am thinking of switching on the aircon because it is getting humid in here. Not cloudy any more - bright sunshine. Makes me think of you with -1. So what does your overnight temperature get to? I shiver at the thought!
Good night. Sleep well.

Hello Sue and Berona...

Happy Australia Day to you both, too:-))

Sue... In regards to our conversation about our children...I know mine will be there for me when I will need their support. I couldn't imagine what our lives would be like if we didn't have them in it.

We didn't get out in the garden today, it was a tad too hot under the area where we were going to work - so it will have to wait for a cooler weekend!!
Its been a very relaxing day, Ive been doing a little work in my tree, I think I may of worked out who my GGG Grandparents were, so I'm happy:-))

First of all - have just come on here and got half way down the previous page and read Diane's news about Keith - I was absolutely gobsmacked and had been wondering why he had not been on here. He is also a facebook mate of mine - so was shocked I had been ribbing him about a photo he put up and normally he replies straight away and have been wondering if he was ill. I still can't believe it.

Hello Ali - glad to see your post.

Looks like a real group of Ozzies have just been on here.

Sorry you missed my posts earlier Sue - I had done several before you left - some were for you - I seem to have this knack of posting the same time as others and theirs all pop up after mine - so my ramblings are bound to miss the loop.

Have been listening to a radio program this afternoon - with talk about all the resources in the North West of Australia - where not many live and that the Australians need to use these - (they have the water up there as well) - before others take over. Mind you we have the same problems here - there is water where we don't need it and none where we do and no way of moving it etc.

Hope you have all enjoyed your Australia Day.

We have our Waitangi Day on the 6th of February - and no one is happy because both it and Anzac day fall on a Saturday this year so no holiday. Payroll people will like that.

Persey
