Tec, we had no choice as metric was already in place when we arrived here.

It was hard at first particularly for linear and area measurements but we soon got used to it.

The funny thing is that all the early certificates of title, and maps, being based on UK measurments in use in the early 1800's still show Rods, Poles Perches, Links etc so there are conversion charts!

Allan, it must have been hard being thrown into metric suddenly as you were - I simply can't get my head around metric - but in fairness I haven't really tried.

Cantankerous old fossil

Tec, weight units were fine as I had been exposed to metric units (sounds like some form of illnes!) whilst doing Port health work as the imported food was mostly weighed in metric.

There were exceptions such as new potatoes from Egypt which were ready packed in 14 stone packs

It was the linear that took most getting used to

I'm glad that this is not a "real" conversation: we'd never get a word in but everybody would be talking at once. lol

Well I have to go now and bravely face another day

Take care all and stay warm or cool according to your inclinations
