The one good thing is that the rehearsal venue is only down the Road from us at the local Catholic Church

Haven't read the posts yet - will do that later
Just had to share this:

Twas the month after Christmas,
and all through the house,
Nothing would fit me,
not even a blouse.

The dips that I ' d nibbled,
the champagne that I ' d taste
At the Christmas parties
had gone to my waist.

When I got on the scales
there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store
(less a walk than a lumber),

I ' d remember the marvellous meals I ' d prepared;
The gravies, potatoes and beef nicely rared,
The wine and the rum balls, the puddings and cheese
And the way I ' d never said, "No thank you, please."

As I dressed myself in my fat pants and shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt...
I said to myself, as I only can,
"You can ' t spend all Summer, disguised as a man."

So, away with the last of the smoked salmon dip.
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip.
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
Till all the additional kilos have vanished.

I won ' t eat that ice-cream, not even a lick.
I ' ll just have to chew on a celery stick.
I won ' t have hot bread, or chocolate, or pie.
I ' ll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.

I ' m hungry, I ' m lonesome, and life is a bore...
But isn ' t that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all, and to all a good diet.

I remember those days, just making it to the car park and bawling my eyes out all the way home!

I'm going out for dinner and a movie later, we are going to see "It's complicated" Ive been told its really good:-))
Its another beautiful day down here today:-)

I was driving home earlier and was thinking about our Linda(not in Herriot country)
She is probably lying by the pool, glass of red in one hand, book in the other...I hope she and her OH are enjoying themselves:-)))))

Perse - The verse is brilliant - you should be appointed the NZ Poet Laureate - definately.
I have always been fortunate in that I can eat what I like, and never alter.
Actually, that's not strictly true, as my waist is not that of an 18 yr old.

Carole - Hope you enjoy your meal and the movie. I'm sure Linda will be lying by the pool thinking of us - especially the Brits freezing their socks off.

Sue - We want answers.........re grandson's first day.

A. Did you sniff ladylike into a tissue with watery eyes?

B. Did you sob inconsolably?

C. Did you howl and scream and frighten everybody?

D. Did you both howl all the way home?

Allan - Hope the curry went down well - I think the reason they eat the hottest curries in Asia is that it cools them down?

No - I don't understand that.
But apparently works on the same principal of a hot cup of tea drank in hot weather.

If I'm rambling again, please tell me, it's the kindest thing to do.

good evening/morning all.

Just a quick one. Won't be here for a while. I see my specialist at 8:15am so of course, I haven't slept a wink - in case I didn't wake up in time!

See you all later.

Hello everyone:-)) Hope you are all well.

What a mixed day yesterday - I went to bed exhausted:-(

Yesterday morning I went to my daughter's place early to be confronted by a little boy in full school uniform right down to his black shoes and an excited look on his face. His mum didn't look very excited - it was obvious she hadn't slept very well. Off he went with his mum and her partner and his dad. I stayed behind with the twins comforting a 3 y.o boy who kept saying "me go to big school too?" I didn't shed a tear....honestly. Neither did mum at that point. 1/2 an hour later back came mum still looking fairly composed until she saw me and reverted to a 10 y.o in seconds:-)) We both had a good cry to the amusement of daughter's partner who, of course, took a photo. We then went out for breakfast.

In the afternoon I took some paper work to our treasurer’s house and together we cross- matched a load of records dating back 12 months. After a long while we sat and looked at each other and realized that we had uncovered some definite discrepancies. Mostly money taken and not receipted nor deposited:-( That wasn’t the only thing we uncovered – but it’s by far the most disturbing. The other discrepancies could be explained away but not this. We decided to leave it for a few days until we can decide what our next step is. I think at this point we need some legal advice. I feel so angry at the arrogance of these two people.

Persey – I loved your “after” Christmas poem:-))

Hi Berona - you posted as I did. Hope all goes well - please come back and let us know how you went. I'll be thinking of you, my friend.

Good Morning Sue,
Good Morning Berona,

Good luck with your appointment Berona - I do hope you get some positive advice and help, thinking of you.

Sue - What a day you had indeed. I bet your little boy looked very smart in his new school outfit. How strange it must have seemed to see him in uniform. Tears are expected from mums and grand-ma on such a day.
The photo will be good for the family album.
I expect he had such a lot to tell when he came home.

I am sorry that your problem with the dodgy two seem to be getting worse.
If you really feel you need legal advice, then take it. Should you feel that accusations are inevitable, make absolutely sure your have positive proof of everything . It is so important that the reputation of yourself, your committee, and your organisation is protected.
When people are caught out, they usually resort to mud slinging, be prepared for that. Try not to worry - it will get sorted.

Hello Tec. My grandson looked very smart in his uniform. Apparently he had a great day including cuddling an upset child but decided to go for a wander when they were in the kindies' playground. Luckily with it being the start of "big" school they are closely watched.

In regards to my problem - there will actually be no accusations as such. We will of course ask questions and they will be aware that we are aware and with new guidelines in place it will be near impossible to "fiddle" the books. I'm amazed that anyone would risk their reputation for such a piddling amount.

Good morning/evening all (I feel like Dixon of Dock Greeen when I post that)

Berona I hope that all is OK. You will be there as I post this. good luck.

Tec the curry was good for a first attempt at this particular one. OH came back with a box of 12 mangos yesterday, a couple of which weren't ripe. Si I made a chicken dish utilising one of the unripe mangos.

Sue, I agree that the stage has ben reached where legal advice is now required. Also, if any correspondence is to be entered into, get the Solicitor to send the letter, or at the very least to check a draft of anything the committee may write before it is sent

Sue - It's good that your grandson enjoyed his first day at school - not always the case - some children decide they are not going again - ever.

Allan - Glad the curry turned out ok, a box of 12 mangoes made me drool. They are over a £1 each here, and never very good. I can remember buying a whole basket full - about 50 - in Bombay (Mumbai) for 1 rupee,
one and six in old money, or 7.5p in new money.

Hi, Allan - chicken with mango yummm.

Thank you for your advice - it's much appreciated. I'm going to read our constitution today and see if there's anything we need to know before we go further. The annoying thing is - this problem was hinted at at open meetings before I came on the committee but it was brushed over because the person involved started making comments about "bullying and harrassment". Her husband - the other person involved - also threatened the committee with the media. They are an incredibly arrogant pair but with the right advice they can be stopped in their tracks - I hope.

Tec, I must admit that I am not a big fan of mangos.

OH loves them but at the moment in the supermarkets they are just over three dollars each.

OH got hers from the local Farmers' market for ten dollars: there were only three boxes at that price.

SueMaid Report 29 Jan 2010 21:49

Allan - I paid $1.80 for a lovely mango the other day. The thing that puts me off is that they are so messy. I've just bought a mango cutter but haven't tried it yet - hopefully it will make cutting them up easier as I much prefer fresh mangoes.

Apologies, Sue.

You posted while I was still typing!!

I'm sure that with new guidelines in place, and the knowledge that someone has the intestinal fortitude to investigate the discrepencies, any miscreants will think twice about carrying on. The problem with small amounts being involved is that over a period of time they can add up tp large amounts!
