Allan - I'm sure it will be sorted now we have all the paperwork to show where the discrepancies are. I think you would be highly amused at the little stunts that they have pulled to make a few dollars or so. It does add up but we're still only talking about chicken feed. If I'm going to commit fraud and risk my reputation it's going to be millions and I'm going to get away with it:-))) Don't quote me on that. Again at this stage we are going to be asking questions not making accusations. After all they may have a perfectly good reason for using a patient transport form to record trips to the post office to pick up mail and take goods to a market stall.

Sue,

A bos of mine was once asked if he would ever accept a bribe. After thinking long and hard about it he said yes

When asked how much, he responded that about two million pounds would cover it! (This was bck in 1965)

We were all astounded as this guy was as straight as a die. When asked why so high a sum he said a) it would have to cover all all his future earnings because as soon as he took it he would resign and b) he had no knowledge or any other information which was possibly worth that amount.

A good answer!

I must be off, fellows. We have to go to mum's to help move some furniture out of a room - good fun:-))

I really do appreciate your comments and advice - thank you.

Berona Report 29 Jan 2010 22:43

Hello all. I'm back - and feeling a lot happier. The specialist confirmed that there had been no sign of a stroke (sigh of relief!), and that it was a combination of the thyroid 'under' acting a little and the drop in dosage.
He took my pulse and dictated a letter to my GP, asking for an ECG and another blood test and wants to see me in 6 weeks to compare and perhaps adjust the dosage again (I'll be changing it slowly next time!).
I came out; paid my $100; made my next appointment - and left.

Sue - do you have a solicitor who will give you advice? Sometimes the cost of the advice out-weighs the amount involved. If you have a solicitor connected to your organisation, or who will give his advice free, all the better!

Morning all

I don't like Mangoes very much - nor watermelons - I will give the other melons a go but not my thing. I think the Mango thing stems from childhood - used to play with an Indian Girl at her place above the fruit shop and her mum used to give us mangoes and I thought they were raw pumpkin. I was stupid then as well!!.

Eggplants or aubergines can be anything up to about $7.00 each here but at this time of year they are $1.99 but last week one of my fruit & veg shops had them $1.49 each or 2 for $1.99 - so guess who made a parmigiana for dinner last night. Usually I do half a one in a ratatouille and then the other half later in a mince dish - but at that price we had a whole one. There must be an abundance of them at the moment. Our kiwifruit seem to have disappeared altogether now - only Italian ones... we probably sent ours overseas.

Love first days Sue - my eldest well remembers her first day at Kindergarten - this other little girl who had the same first day - wrote her name on her painting - Kim - her mother was so pleased. Mine just looked at me - she had not mastered Madeleine. As a consequence of her name all three of hers have four letter first names. She said fancy giving her 9 letters to cope with - I gave her sister 10 letters - Annagretta.

Hope all is well Berona - I would cross my fingers - but then it would be - coutg fkuaew - like that and Tec might think I am attempting Welsh.

I wish I could claim to be author of the poem - but no it was sent to me - and I rather liked it. But still think Carole's Fairie one is the best - I sent it everywhere and probably clogged up the arteries of the computer transmission cables all over the world.

Hello Persey,

Berona I'm pleased that your results were good

Good Morning Berona,
Good Morning Perse,

Berona - I'm so pleased that you are happier about things now having seen the consultant. It looks like a bit of tweeking with the medication, an ECG to check nothing else is going on, and you will be back to yourself again. Obviously it was wrong to meddle with your medication in the first place.
The Duchess suffers from high blood pressure as well as diabetes. Like Allan she also suffers White Coat Hypertension. Some time ago while seeing a consultant her BP was sky high - simply because she was there - the consultant immediately doubled her dosage of BP tablets.
That messed things up completely, and only now several months later are things getting back to normal - the dosage having been reversed.

Good Morning Perse - Though I think technically it's just afternoon for you.
I am impressed with your variety of exoctic friuts. We do have water melons - not keen - and the Duchess loves kiwi fruits, but there are none here at the moment.

Some of the concoctions you cook up I've never heard of, but they sound good. I think that Australasians seem to have a more exciting diet than we do here. Maybe we should be more adventurous.

Tec -

I loved it in Bill Bryson's " Notes from a Small Island" where he talks about all the fancy falutin names for what comprises the British meal - but there is no way that they would as he puts it f*** around with the British Pud.
I read that passage out to my friend before I MADE her read the book - she wasn't going to bother and that convinced her and she loved it.

Thanks all, for your concern. Yes, I am a lot happier now.
Perse - the pain is no longer in my legs. My mobility is slowly improving. Instead of doing half a job and sitting down for a while, I seem to be able to finish what I set out to do - (not too arduous!), but if I over-do it, THEN, the power in my legs gives out.
I still cannot walk as far as my mailbox (70 steps there and 70 back), so my son and daughter have been helping with that and putting the garbage out. A neighbour has brought it in for me, but my son comes on his way home from work on those days to make sure. He has taken my car to give it a run and a going-over. I can drive it, but can't really go anywhere because I can't walk far when I get out of it! However - I'm getting there!!

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 29 Jan 2010 23:23

Perse,
I remember that part of the book - think I might read the book again. In one part he takes a train journey on a very wet Sunday through North Wales, which meant he must have passed through my village. The description of N.Wales on a wet Sunday was so correct, it had me crying.

Just take it slowly Berona - it is good that you can get some people to help. A lot of people here have mobility scooters - and one of our shopping malls I know hires them out - so you can drive - park in disabled bay and get assistance. Legs are so important - really - we can manage with our arm in a sling - and all these other ailments but legs we definitely need to get about - you must feel so restricted and frustrated.

I can't imagine anything ever defeating you.
