Hi Sue,

Mother's are good at winding us up - my mother - bless her - could have me banging my head on the wall at times.
Maybe one day, you will be doing this to your children.
I know the Duchess winds my daughter up to screaming pitch at times.

But it's all good fun

Allan Report 2 Feb 2010 21:43

Good evening Tec

I trust that the Duchess's eyes are at least able to keep you in sight :0))

Although I know they are necessary, I don't enjoy going for the eye tests.

At the Specialist here it's the usual hour wait beyond the apointment time, then see the nurse who does the normal eye test and puts the drops in the eyes, twenty minutes for them to take effect and the soo the Man himself. Two minutes later "Fine, no change"

And then having to pay the fee of $168.00 for what has been a complete afternoon gone. Then I have to rustle up OH as the drops make it nearly impossible to drive

Sue, I did intimate to OH that we may have "afew people over for a barbie"

But I did not put a number on few nor did I say from overseas and over East!

I may have some explaining to do when I order 10 kgs of T bone steaks, 25 kgs of Sausages and 5kgs of lamb chops.

The explanation had better be good as it must not only satisfy OH but the Bank Manager as well!!

Hi Berona - I'm going through a phase of buying gadgets for the kitchen.
You may remember I bought a bread maker a while back - so now I'm a Master Baker.
Then I bought a Halogen Cooker - not that good really, could live without it.
Now I've bought a Slow Cooker - so tonight we had a stew, with beef and lots of vegetables.........very nice.

Allan - Oh doesn't get the results of the test for about three weeks, after the test has been annalized sp in Cardiff.
She has problems seeing anything properly for about three hours after the test.
But doesn't miss anything I get up to.

Oh dear - you'd better tell me what these mothers do to annoy you - maybe I do that! I know my dtr gets irritable when I say I did something for myself - but why should she do it for me when I CAN do it myself? She has three children at three different schools and has to ferry them around to school, sports, training, dentist, etc. I did it myself without having to take them to school and I never had five minutes to call my own - so I know what it's like.

Let me know what they do to annoy you and I'll try to avoid doing that! (if I don't already do it).

Hi Allan Tec and Berona

Allan you have been busy haven't you, hope your leg's soon get better and you can finish the job as Sue said we are looking forward to the bbq's.

Tec how did OH get on at her check up, hope all is fine with her.

Berona I'm so glad you have finally got some serious rain and you don't have to water your pot's hun.

No Sue I have not heard anything yet, so I am going to ring the houseing up tomorrow and ask them have they heard from the Council yet, depending on their answer I will then decide what I need to do next.
There was fun and game's upstair's yesterday as he had some kind of argument with his current girl-friend which led to smashing of something's in the flat and a very loud banging of the front door which I think was his reaction when she left the flat.( Oh what fun )

I think you'll have a lot of explaining to do as I intend to come in fancy dress costume and I'm rather hoping to talk our friends into doing the same. I'm not telling you my costume is - it's a surprise:-)))

Having taken my mum on a few trips she now believes that she should come on all trips with us. She told my daughter that she didn't realise we were going for a few days - she thought it was only for the weekend. She then said that if she'd known she could've come with us and just stayed in the hotel room for the Saturday night. My poor daughter is constantly being used to relay messages from my sister and my mum to me and it's driving me mad. Oh dear.....I said I wouldn't moan:-(

Sue, just so long as it does not involve Teddy Bears, or very large cakes with trap-door tops!

If the fancy dress costumes are too good I wont be able to recognise anyone (And I can now???) and you may not be admitted.

Tec, the slow cooker sounds perfect for your current weather

Good morning all,

Sorry wasn't here yesterday - blame Carole - I went and saw "It's Complicated" but we didn't stop there - we had a 20 minute break for our lunch at the Mall and then we saw George Clooney's - "Up in the Air".
We are not ones for going to many "blockbuster" movies - we usually do festival and art house and small budget types.

Sue - I could set my alarm for the middle of the night and come in here and have a rant or rave and nudge the thread back to where it rightfully belongs. Though I quite like page 3 (sticks chest out)

Hello Persey

Tec it seems as though we are surounded by pin-up girls

I hope that my OH doesn't find out!

Berona Report 2 Feb 2010 22:08

Well, I'm happy to say I don't do that. I have done all the travelling I want to do - except of course, when Allan sends us our free plane tickets to his bbq.

I find that I have to keep a lot to myself. I only 'mentioned' that I would like to buy a new DVD as dtr was dropping me off after taking me for the blood test. Half an hour later, she rang from the electrical store with details, and ten minutes after that, walked in the my new DVD in her arms - saying that her brother would be here next day to connect it up. She then went home and rang him and told him to get here next day and connect it, and to bring in my garbage bin, as she had put it out! He was there too - didn't dare say no!

I am only on here briefly (that does not mean I am just wearing my briefs Allan)

but I recommend (if you have not already seen it) that you Google Kseniya Simonva youtube and watch Ukranian winner of their Got Talent for 2009 - drawing a series of pictures on an illuminated sand table showing how ordinary people were affected by the German invasion during World War II. Her talent, Which admittedly is a strange one, is mesmeric to watch . Takes about 8 minutes of viewing time.

Cheers

Hello Persey - I missed you but I'm glad you had a lovely day.

Berona - I just can't see you as being an annoying mum. I had a chat to my daughter the other day and she told me that we do very little to annoy her. She said that she didn't feel that she can ask for advice and support and then be annoyed when we give it. I do know that my son in Hobart gets irritated at times with me. He's been away in the army all his adult life and is totally independant and very used to solving his own problems. The problem with my mum is that her and dad were so close and dad protected her from any problems. He looked after the money and the maintenance of the house and now mum expects me and my brother to take over. We are forever filling in forms and making phone calls for the simplest of things and my poor OH is always called upon to do household repairs - the latest is painting two rooms. Mum told my daughter that she feels now her dad has retired he has more time than my brother.

Sue hun don't worry we don't mind ( well I'm guessing I can speak for everyone ) you haveing a moan. As I told you the other day it isn't just mum's who make you feel like you are feeling, my Aunty ( who isn't my real Aunty ) just someone I have called Aunty since I was 9yrs old and who I have treated as mum for many year's had me feeling the way you feel, not being my real mum or aunty it was very difficult at time's not to remind her of this and there was many a time I felt like just saying to her your not really my responserbilty and how come you don't have a go at your real relative's and moan at them for not doing thing's exactly your way, but me being me never did say these thing's, which is probably why when I was accussed of stealing 2 cardigan's I had to back away and leave it to the Nephew, result she ended up in nurseing home within 12mth's.

Reading some of these posts regarding elderly relatives and friends, I'm not sure whether to feel sad or not that my own parents died so young, particularly my mother.

Still you can only play the cards that are dealt.

Hi Perse you came on while I was posting my last post. Glad you enjoyed your film's and why not see 2 movies on the same day. I don't go to the cinima very much as I don't seem to find the time and I don't have anyone to go with ( ah poor me billy no mate's ) lol.

Good morning Perse. I thought of you when I heard our forecast. We are having RAIN!!! (well, heavy showers) and the forecast is that they will move over to you by the weekend. Of course, the forecast isn't always right and Allan says they are expecting it to come their way - so whether it splits down the middle and goes both way, I'm not sure!!??

Two movies in one day! Can't remember when I last went to the movies - not since my children were little, and even then, it was very rarely - I already had a TV before they were born, so it had to be something very special to go to a cinema.

Persephone

Persephone Report 2 Feb 2010 22:24

and with those cards you gotta know when to fold them.

Me and my two get along really well - OH can not understand how the three of us can all talk at once and know what each other is talking about. He has a devil's own job keeping up with the conversation when ever the four of us are together without SILs and grandies.

I'm sorry Allan - it seems unfair to moan about a parent when some of you haven't had your parents for a long while. I love my mum dearly and wouldn't be without her but she is a trial at times.

Diane - I should imagine that it was very difficult for you looking after your Aunty and having her accuse you of theft but obviously she wasn't thinking straight and a lot of elderly people accuse their loved ones of theft.

Allan my mum died nearly 27yrs ago but as you can see from what I posted it doesn't have to be your mum who give's you a hard time lol. Now my dad who I would love to be able to help live's to far away for me to do thing's for him. I'm hopeing he is soon able to move nearer to me as he was 85yrs old on the 29th Jan and will need some-one to keep an eye on him soon.
