Persey - my OH and my daughter's partner can't understand how we can talk on the phone for ages in the morning and then visit in the afternoon and still find things to talk about. My OH is still shaking his head because my daughter waxed my eyebrows and gave me a facial yesterday so I'll be gorgeous for the wedding. He asked me several times why I would put myself through that. Men - you have no idea what we go through to look gorgeous for you:-))

Good Morning Perse,
Wondered where you were, the films sound good. I haven't been to the cinema in 30 years at least.

Allan - The reason I only post on this thread is because we are surrounded by glamour - but have to wear my dark glasses.

My daughter says I am a cantankerous old devil - I'm glad about that, and keep practising. She 'aint seen nothing yet

Sue there is no need of an apology. It was just a statement of fact. I do wonder at other times, "what if"

The downside is that my children have never had a chance to see their grandparents, but then I look back to when my Nan was staying with us.

She had been in a couple of car crashes had broken her hips twice. The second time left her in callipers and I remember my dad having to carry her up and down stairs at home.

Then when she did go into permanent care, my dad was also in hospital and we seemed to be forever travelling between the two places, which were miles apart..

It's no wonder that my parents were worn out!

That's how I feel at the moment Allan - worn out. I'm just thankful that our daughter isn't demanding where the grandkids are concerned. We do runs of babysitting and then we don't seem to do any for ages. She always has back up if we're away or can't do it for any reason.

I must be off, friends. I need to do some shopping and tidy the house before we pack. Behave yourselves while I'm away. Persey and Berona are in charge and I have no doubt they'll keep you all in line:-) Take care and love to you all.

Berona Report 2 Feb 2010 23:00

Now I'm worried. Perse - I think we might have to set a few rules here. After what the boys got up to when Sue went away before - they showed that they can be very hard to handle! I hope you are in your best Alistair Sim mood! The girls at St.Trinian's had nothing on these two!!

Berona

Berona Report 2 Feb 2010 23:04

Well, that's given me something to think about. I'm off now. I have an appointment with the hairdresser. I made it when I was there last time - before my legs went their own way - but once again, my 'keeper' (dtr) is calling for me so that she can drop me off in case I might have to walk too far from my car. Better go and get ready.
Sleep well/have a good day all.

Diane - We are going to have to cook up a more sedate way of mischief .Allan's legs are aching too much for him to run far, and I'm not as athletic as I once was.
My brain has gone into mischief mode, tomorrow all will be revealed.

I'm sure we can cause chaos if we try hard enough.

Watch this space!

Oh dear - damn Linda for being away - I probably get up to more shenanigans than the pair of them put together. But if we are going to do it St Trinians style Berona I am sure I will measure up.

The reason I disappeared this morning was I was on the phone - my cousin is on his last legs so to speak he is 58. He collapsed nearly a year ago at work and was found to have a brain tumour - he was operated on - stitches around his head (which was very balding) and he said to me when in Hospital - I wonder what my hair will be like - I said Don't expect to come out with long flowing curls. He was in good spirits, went back to work (manager of computer/office supplies company - in fact worked in office supplies all his working life) he collapsed again some time ago and another operation - this time he did not return to work and he has steadily declined. It has been hard to get him to stay at home - getting out with his zimmer frame and enlisting his FIL to take him for drives all over the place. Was in hospital before Christmas - but has more or less been sent home to die - he has been in a coma all our long weekend - but was awake this morning enough for his lovely wife to bath him. She has been wonderful throughout this ordeal.

Hi Perse I'm so sorry to hear this hun, only came back to see if there was any new post before I went to bed and saw your post. I hope his time left is peaceful and he is probably best being at home surrounded by the people who care most about him. My thought's are with his family especially his wife.
I'm in trouble now from (mum) Berona for being up so late, so I best be off
enjoy your day hun

Alert Levels around the globe.

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats and have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved." Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross." The English have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies all but ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to a "Bloody Nuisance." The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was during the great fire of 1666.

The Scots raised their threat level from "Pissed Off" to "Let's get the Bastards" They don't have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the frontline in the British army for the last 300 years.

The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide". The only two higher levels in France are "Collaborate" and "Surrender." The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France 's white flag factory, effectively paralysing the country's military capability.

It's not only the French who are on a heightened level of alert. Italy has increased the alert level from "Shout loudly and excitedly" to "Elaborate Military Posturing." Two more levels remain: "Ineffective Combat Operations" and "Change Sides."

The Germans also increased their alert state from "Disdainful Arrogance" to "Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs." They also have two higher levels: "Invade a Neighbour" and "Lose".

Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual, and the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels .

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.

Americans meanwhile are carrying out pre-emptive strikes, on all of their allies, just in case.

New Zealand has also raised its security levels - from "baaa" to "BAAAA!". Due to continuing defence cutbacks (the air force being a squadron of spotty teenagers flying paper aeroplanes and the navy some toy boats in the Prime Minister's bath), New Zealand only has one more level of escalation, which is "Sh**, I hope Australia will come and rescue us".

Australia , meanwhile, has raised its security level from "No worries" to "She'll be right, mate". Two more escalation levels remain, "Crikey!, I think we'll need to cancel the barbie this weekend" and "The barbie is cancelled". So far no situation has ever warranted use of the final escalation level.
