Allan - that should teach you to wait until the garbologists have been and the bins can think clearly!

Allan

Allan Report 3 Feb 2010 22:01

Garbologists?

can you get an ology in that?

Allan

Allan Report 3 Feb 2010 22:10

Berona, Tec,

You are both behind the times.

When I was a student in the late 60's one of the bin-men at the council I was working for won a Churchill Fellowship to study refuse collection overseas.

When the local press interviewed him, he described himself as a garbologist!

It's a dying art Tec. They aren't the same as the men who juggled the old metal bins on their shoulders, then emptied them manually into the truck.
These days, they ride on the back of the truck and just fix anything when it gets stuck. They can't even move wheelie bins off the road or out of driveways. However, it has created a skill with drivers, like those in my complex, who go to great lengths to avoid knocking them over with their cars, rather than move them out of the way - and if they miss and knock them over - bad luck! They are left there until the owner comes home from work in the evening.

Well I never did!

I shall regard our bin-men in a different light - I usually see them just before dawn

Now it will be "Here come the Garbologists"

This dongle, Tec, is it the one with the luminous nose?

Allan

Tecwyn Report 3 Feb 2010 22:43

Allan,

I sent for a wireless mouse from Hong Kong via Ebey

When you plug the dongle into USB it lights a rather nice blue

took me by surprise but very nice.

Also buttons on the side to move a page from side to side without scrolling - it was only £4-70p
