Ah welldon't let you dongle dangle in the dust!!

I bought a new mouse recently, the old fashioned restrained type, and it too has a light in it.

The only problem is that the light remains on even after the puter is turned off a it gets its power from the puters internal battery via the USB slot

Tecwyn Report 3 Feb 2010 23:07

Allan,
That's a nuisance because it must be a drain on the battery if left too long.
My blue light goes off when the power's off.

There's a little button on the top of the mouse, but I can't figure out what it does yet.

I am a bit of a technophobe really.

Tec,
I've got a wireless mouse and I've got like a little wheel on it and I think it's just a another way of moving the curser althought I've never used it!

PatriciaAnn Report 3 Feb 2010 23:12

Berona,
A dongle is a thing which you put on the side of your computer if you didn't have wireless broadband.BT were ages sorting my broadband out.In the end I got a dongle. It was a bit slow but it was better than nothing. I've now got proper broadband.

Diane

Diane Report 3 Feb 2010 23:13

Berona it is a mobile internet devise that you can connect to your USB.

Tecwyn Report 3 Feb 2010 23:15

Pat,
The little wheel on top is another way of controling the cursor.

Berona - I'm sureyou know what a dongle is.
When you use a wireless mouse, you get a thing that looks like a memory stick, called a dongle that plugs into a USB port, and commumicates with the wireless mouse.

And mine is illuminated...........I'm all lit up like a Christmas tree

It's a whole new worl out there!

Pixies and megapixies, mice, bytes, bits, Broadband, elastic band (well I did start with one of the original Commodre 64's)

I become very confused with the jargon.

I've only just stopped calling the radio a wireless!

Thanks Pat. With Sue away, I was afraid to ask either Tec or Allan - I'm not sure what kind of an answer I'd get!

My cordless mouse has a wheel on it. It moves the screen up and down.

I have a cordless keyboard too. Not only that - but it has become clueless as well! The letters are wearing off! When I'm typing, I have no problem, as long as I don't look at the keyboard - but if I look at it, I have no idea what letter should be there!

My daughter keeps turning up with gadgets, and proudly presents them to me, and I have topretend to be overwhelmed with gratitude.

So far I have a mobile phone I don't even know how to turn on.
Something called an MP3 Player to play music apparently?
Something else called an I-Pod - haven't a clue

These precious gifts are all stuffed in a draw

Berona, you could have asked me to your heart's content because I was clueless.

In all henesty, I had never heard of a dongle and wondered what the h*ll it was.

I thought that Tec may have been the subject of a weird Celtic initiation cereomny!!

Sleep well and warm - with no noise from upstairs.

Allan you've just reduced me to tears of mirth with your Celtic innitiation remark - I assumed you would know what a dongle is.

Is a pPod something that pops peas?

I am leaving you all now. I have 'mastered' my DVD and have a couple of programs to watch.

Allan - it's not only the computer jargon we have to get used to. I had to ask "what have I got?" when it came to setting the DVD to program - words like Analogue, Digital, High Definition - apparently I was setting it to receive programs from analogue stations when I should have been setting them for digital. I'm still getting used to the new TV - had it for a few months now - and never look at all the chanels it can get. Still don't know what it's "ready" for, but apparently it IS ready!

See you all later. Allan and Tec - I'll be popping in to keep an eye on you - so BEHAVE!!!

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 Feb 2010 23:44

Bye Berona,
Congratulations on conquering the DVD.
I managed my DVD but never did get the VCR working through the new tele - doesn't seem to matter now.
