I have not long got home - my cousin died this morning - but that was not why I was out. My OH took me going to a specialist in one suburb as the entrée to travelling further afield so we have been on one of our Tiki Tours all over the place.

You have given me a good laugh with "the dongle" conversations - Carole will be PHSL when she reads it.

I was very surprised Tec, that you had not heard of the two cartoon Gauls - Aasterisk and Obelisk -

Asterisk - the hero is a shrewd cunning little warrior, all perilous missions are immediately entrusted to him. He gets his superhuman strength from the magic potion brewed by the druid Getafix.

Obelisk - he is Asterisk's inseparable friend. A menhir delivery man by trade addicted to wild boar, always ready to drop anything (doesn't include dongles) and go on a new adventure with Asterix. His constant companion is Dogmatix - a canine ecologist, who howls with despair when a tree is cut down.

Hi Perse. I hope your cousins' passing was peaceful. As I said before, 58 is not old. My condolences to you.

They lost me when they started talking about dongles. I've never heard of them. I had dial-up then cable broadband, then ADSL, so that's all I know about it. In fact, I did wonder if I should stay around - I thought our thread might be turning 'raunchy'!!

Hello Persey and Berona,

Perse, so sorry to hear of your cousins passing. Condolences to you and your family. xx
58 is so young, its only 10 years older than me.

"Shake's head" dongles indeed!!! tsk tsk!!

You were right Perse, I'm still giggling...I'll have a smile on my face till bedtime:-)))

Berona, it does sound very raunchy, makes a lady blush, it does:-))

Its been a good day down here, we've had lots of rain:-))

I hope everyone is well, good morning to those about to face another day and a good evening to all others whose day is nearly done;-))

Hello Carole. You can send some of that rain up here if you like. We keep getting promised thunderstorms - forecast each day for about a week now. All we've got is a couple of heavy showers on one day and another couple overnight on Tuesday and Wednesday. To-day, I've seen sprinkles, then the heat dries them up. Temps each day have been around 28 with high humidity. Still more thunderstorms forecast, but I'll believe them when they happen!
Just heard that rain is causing 'havoc' in the Blue Mountains! That's only an hour's drive from here! I don't know what happens to it, but it never seems to reach where I am!

Hello Berona,

Normally, its a lot like that here!!
I can sometimes watch from my kitchen window - the rain miss our valley and be pouring down with rain on the distant hills, its very disheartening to watch.
The humidity is the pits, I walked into my mums unit this morning - she had the over head fan going with the front door open but the back door closed. I opened up the back door and switched on her cooler, it was so much nicer when I left her to go to work.
Its still quite muggy here, so Ive switched on the aircon, myself:-))

Told OH that Tec's dongle had a blue light on it.
His reply was "Has he seen a doctor?"

hello all

Persey, I am so sorry about your cousin. That is no age at all. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy.

Sounds serious when it's blue, doesn't it?

Allan

Allan Report 4 Feb 2010 08:47

Good evening to Carole and Berona,

Honestly, until it was explained earlier in the thread, I had no idea what a dongle was.

The mind boggles with possibilities, and until others confirmed the definition, it could have seemed that Tec and myself had invented something to cause havoc on this thread.

Not, of course that we would have done!

*gives sweet innocent smile* :0))

Thanks Allan, Berona and Carole.

His older brother who is also younger than me - said to him when they knew he was dying - this is not right I expected you and their younger still brother to be arranging his funeral not the other way around.
Their mother used to call them "My Three Sons" she had 3 boys and her brother got 3 girls.

You know he worked for the same company all his working life - the company changed names several times and had take overs etc but he just carried on.

I thought Tec was making one of his witty remarks - and I burst out laughing and then the rest of the threads on the subject... then Pat knowing all about Tec's Dongle and Diane telling him to leave it alone.
I had tears running down my face - fogged up my glasses - You talk about your keyboard being Clueless Berona - I became visionless and had to get a tissue.

Persey, we have no idea what life has in store for us.

Perhaps it is just a well.

"The moving finger writes; And having writ
Moves on: nor all your Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all your Tears wash out a Word of it."

Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam

Ah but I think Benjamin Franklin was credited with having said there are two certainties in life Death and taxes.

True Persey, but taxes come every year

Death but once, unless you are a Buddhist!

And it is an extreme way of avoiding tax!
