And lots of people with their own names on threads, although I was still Ann in Glos!!!

I noticed too Ann, how much more casual posters seemed to be - not as much reticence as nowadays. I guess it's a sign of the times?

What is interesting is that from reading some of the threads in 2003 it is obvious that none of us were at all computer literate, we were really feeling our way around both the concept of chatting on line and also computers, asking questions like where is my junk mail folder?

It is great to look back and see the old names though, and to see that even then we were complaining about GR support, I had forgotten that gen board was called Guest board in those days too.

Just found one thread on 13 Aug 2003 when we were all complaining how slow the site was. and weren't they polite in those days. this is the reply i got.

We are very sorry for all the inconvenience caused to you for the slow speed of the site recently. When the site is busy, and a lot of members are using the search section of the site, this can put enormous pressure on our servers and as a result the site slows down. Our technical team are most concerned about this and they are looking into it and trying to improve the speed of the site. We are a very small team and with a large volume of emails coming in then there are some set answers that we use as we do receive similar queries from members. We are sorry if anyone is offended by this.

Ann, I have spent hours re-reading some of those old threads

Ouch, I have just checked my threads and I have 825. You have guessed, housekeeping not my strong point. can't be bothered to delete them, not clogging up my computer. Some of them make interesting reading. going to go back and have a look now!!

May I thank you all for your a posts, even those who deleted to make their point.

I did do a bit of house keeping a couple of months ago, getting rid of year old 'weather reports' 'Good Morning' & 'Good night' threads. I do try to remember to delete 'trying to find' threads as soon as I find that person.

Seriously the only time I did housekeeping on here was when I deleted my original membership. I don't usually delete my posts, unless I've managed to post the same thing twice. I don't usually delete threads either, unless, like Rose said, someone requests me to and I think it's a valid reason.

This thread stirred up my curiosity and I went to look at my own threads going back to Feb 2004....................................................... glad that I never deleted any because I am going to follow up some information on one of my brickwalls so you see it pays NOT to delete sometimes. lol.

There have been umpteen discussions on the subject since the delete button appeared. They all have the same content, with fors and against and mostly the same people putting across the same opinions as the last time, so another is just superfluous, In my opinion that is :-))

There was a discussion on the general board recently about deleted posts.

I have 632 pages of threads.

I think it is pointless to post a statement with an additional post that it will be deleted soon afterwards.

Now I don't mind 'me' deleting, but I do so hate it when anyone else does. :-))))

I can beat the lot of you!! I've got 407 pages of threads, the earliest dated 4 august 2003.

as you can imagine lol I never delete anything - if I post it I stand by it.

can't understand those who put "I will delete this in 5 minutes" - why post it then?! or those who post up something knowing full well that they are going offline straight after - how rude! I have also had help on tips that has been deleted within hours - thankfully I copied the thread or the info would have been lost.

Budgie - I dont delete and you do - simple as that really. You do things your way, and I do them mine. wouldnt do for us all to be the same I suppose, now would it?

I still say that if one considers a thing is worth saying (even if it's been said earlier in a thread in a similar fashion) and one feels the urge to post, then post.......................but dont delete moments later. I still think it can lead to suspicions being cast around, in my opinion.

Thank you Rambling Rose, this as a recurring problem. The Paramedics are used to me now, and instead of having the morphine locked in the car, bring it in with them. Even the cursed dog, licks them to death. They are her friend. My 'bag' has never been unpacked for the last eighteen months. Hopefullt, I am not going tonight, but I wouild put money on it

Contrary to Carol's beliefs, I have not left the thread. If she looked at my reply this morning to Tanainz, I was taking myself off for a few hours beneath the sheats. Now at that indicisve stage, do I call the paramedics as usual, for my morphine jabs, and at least one night in hospital, or do I brave it out and hope for the best. Ugm, so totatally undecided,at the mo., but feel it is coming on. Speak soon, but it may be a day or two.
