Pigeons puff up, like any other bird when they are cold. they are trying to trap air under it's feathers to keep warm. You killed a freezing pigeon, it probably landed in a pile of snow and is buried until the thaw. It has a ring so it's Jack Duckworth's pigeon, now you're for it!

I put food out for a pigeon this afternoon - perhaps it was the same one. It did look rather sad :(

It had probably stopped for a rest 'cos it didn't want to go home to the missus and the eggs - it needed a break from her constant twittering on.

It had just spotted another pigeon that it liked the look of and was puffing itself up to show off to her, but was a bit nervous so was maybe thinking "No, best not, the missus'll hen-peck me to death if I do" when you hurled the window open - so launching poor Kevin into the air and into the arms (or wings) of his new lady friend.

I expect he's a really happy pigeon now.

Poor eggs though!

I bet it got up and tottered off into the snow, there to lie frozen, dead, deceased, this pigeon is no more.......lolol

They usually puff up when they are mating. You sure there was only one said pigeon?

Well it's devastated family came and picked it up. Or.....the dear little boy who owns it turned up in time to see it tumble to the ground and is now rendered speechless with grief. Never mind - you just tell him you didn't mean to.

It was probably just doing it for attention.

It was all puffed out what does it mean when it does that is it cold ? then it went very thin when I began to open the window....
