What a great thread, people commenting already. You are quite right I wasn't allowed out for what seemed ages and I missed being with my friends.

We used to play in the middle of the road and play all sorts of games, including our version of cricket, netball, Tin Tan Alley, conkers, I think children may be band from doing that today. I also recall sitting on the stone steps and playing all sorts of games but cannot remember what they were called.

OOPS SPAIN HAVE SCORED AND THAT IS
MY HOME TEAM!!!!

Have to celebrate now

Sheila you have certainly met a lot of interesting people. What a shame Cliff was 'too busy' to give you his autograph.
Those grass stains on the white plimsoles was a real problem. The times I got a telling off lol, plus if I wore them down the beach I would often arrive home with Tar all over them.I think thats when we got through loads of Dab it off.
I hope all goes well with the test on your lump. Then you have to wait for results which is horrible. We will all keep our fingers crossed for you.

Chester is not quite himself this morning.I think it the after effects of his hectic day yesterday .He is used to a quiet life lol
I must pick some more peas and beans now ,just in case it rains. The poor lawn is desperate .

Shelia Tracey is really Shirly!

I member having white sandels that had to cleaned with that white stuff.

Jane I bet you laughed at Chester under that pool, I would have been in stitches.
I picked over 2lbs of tay berries yesterday and a few raspberries. Also cut down the willow trees that had planted themselves in the fruit cage and gone through the netting top. Got most of the netting back and released 6 blackbirds out of it. They ate all the redcurrants and white currants.

Cut three cues and two cabbage for my table out the front so now it has some things on it at last with the eggs. Last week I put some courgettes out there but we seem to have an influx of earwigs this year and they nibbled them!! Chickens were pleased as they got to eat them. Nothing seems to get wasted when you have hens. The only thing I won't give them is chicken!!!

Jane

Jane Report 12 Jul 2010 10:42

Have just picked a pound and a half of peas.It took me ages to shell them all.I found 1 maggot.
Yes it was so funny Mel watching Chester stuck under the paddling pool running all over the place.
Those blackbirds should be very grateful you released them, especially as they had a good feast on your fruit.

Morning All,

Thank you for your good wishes and the cards Jane and Mandy. Mandy you are so clever and it is in colours that I love too! Even OH said what a lovely card you must keep it!! I am going out for breakfast soon and also for a meal around teatime. One of OH's cards has a 'gorgeous wife' badge in the shape of a heart.....he says I have to wear it today!!. lol I have had M&S and garden vouchers, a couple of tops, a pedometer you can hang around your neck (I always lose the others that clip on) and my Anc*stry subs paid. We were also going to see Biorn Again at an open air theatre tonight but it was all sold out. As we've had some nice rain to cool it down a bit we might go to visit a National Trust place later.

Sheila, that was an interesting job wasn't it. I hope all goes well for you this week, good to get things checked out.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANN. 21 AGAIN !!!!

We had a great time yesterday, The table was full of all the food, which was covered, in cling film and foil. then covered will a LARGE tablecloth. They just moved the cloth, helped themselfs and covered it up again. We even fed the next door neighbour and his son. His wife is an Air Hostess with VIRGI# and was away in some far off place,
So he came in and took TWO massive plates of food. He bought the plates back later all washed and dried. They all went home about 10.30pm
By the way, I did 4 Garlic French sticks, and they all went. I looked in the back fridge and found a TROUT. that I had also cooked and forgot to get out !!! will have that later for lunch, with some salad.

Jane, you and your "SISTER" look like the terrible twins. I bet it's hell when you are together.

Thanks all for the Photo's

You had a right feast Frank.I don't like trout.Chris used to catch them out at Boughton, and we tried them cooked in different ways but neither of us was too keen.
Yes when Janice and I get together anything can happen ,especially when we are out or away together. We get the giggles terribly and often in places where there are lots of people. Then it becomes infectious and everyone is laughing .I can't even begin to say the things that have happened lol

Jane when I used to cook trout for OH he told me to finely slice a celery stalk and put that in the cavity. This takes away soem of the earthy taste. I still don't like trout!!

Frank Report 12 Jul 2010 14:13

I have just had half the trout, with rice salad Ros had a bit of cold turkey, with stuffing and salad.

Forgat to mention this morning, I sharpened my BIG carving knife yesterday, before carving the turkey. I was holding on to the leg, carving some dark meat, AND YES. the knife slipped and cut into my thumb joint.!!!! Blood running down my hand. Had it in kitchen roll and white electrical tape till about an hour ago, all shirvelled up like a prune !!!! but no sign of blood.

Mel, Is it an old wifes tale that you shouldn't give chickens lettuce, mine love them, I always buy them from the reduced counter at Tesc# The only things they don't seem to like is runner bean trimmings. It could be I hit the wrong button, when I am posting, but blood' annoying anyway.

Much cooler now, had a small shower ,just after Ros put out some washing, I bought it in and it STOPPED. Sods law.!!!!! She's doing a bit of weeding at the moment. But the clouds are building and it won't be long before we get some more rain. Thank goodness.

I bet Jane is still in front of the fan, I am still in shorts, commando style nice and cool,!!!All doors and windows still open.

I think it will be cold Turkey and chips and pickle for me this evening, one of my favourite meals, But don't have it often, as madam dosen't consider it a meal. without Veg.

Hope you took my comments as they were ment ANN, thought I would wind you up, instead of JANE.

Yahoooo, Spain Have won the world cup !!!!!!!! Well I'm not that bothered really but all mine would have had their spain shirts on and screeming at the TV, even baby Finley has the shirt. Glad we can get back to normal tv now.

You know, I rather fancy Alan Titchmarsh, I thought it was just me but he obviously has something. I remember reading something his wife wrote about one of the flower shows, when some women came running up for his autograph, she said something like, Oh you don't want to bother with him when there's ............ over them, he's far more interesting ..........

It's certainly cooled down now, even had some rain this morning. Your pond sounds fantastic Mel, got me thinking ....... maybe I could find room for one ......... my son would kill me !!!!!!

Going to read all the e.mails now I see there are few jokes from our Frank.

person who posts by the name of Tracey. If I remember, Tracey is Shirls cousin and she set up the account on here for Shirl but used her own name.Does that make sense?
Chester is my dog he is 11 and a springer cross. What with I have no idea possilbly a bit of Staffie. He is rather an excitable dog and a bit of a nutter lol
